More Jersey City Police Could Have Saved Lives; More IDF Soldiers Could Have Saved Flight 11; Less “Squad Members” Could Save A Democracy

Attacks on Jews continue to make the headlines as was the case on Tuesday in Jersey City, NJ, located on the other side of the Hudson River from Manhattan where the Twin Towers once stood.

A growing pattern of violent anti-Semitism has now turned into a crisis for our nation,’ says mayor of nearby New York City, announcing extra cops to guard Jewish sites shortly after the attack.

“On behalf of the people of Israel, I extend my condolences of the families of Leah Mindel Ferencz, Moshe Hirsch Deutsch, police officer Joe Seals and the other victims of the murderous attack in Jersey City,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted after the attack.

Here are the headlines in a Thursday afternoon Israel time TOI article describing the NJ shooting-

Fears of anti-Semitism hang over New Jersey attack probe

As Jewish community mourns and buries victims, authorities still don’t definitively say whether the shooting was a hate crime

Then on Thursday night, an update read as follows-

The two killers who stormed a kosher market in Jersey City were apparently acting alone and were “fueled both by anti-Semitism and anti-law enforcement beliefs,” New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said Thursday.

Question-So when two armed human beings walk into a Jewish Kosher store and gun down unarmed Jews and a worker, after killing a police officer, what else would you call it if you can’t definitely say it was hate, in reference to the first article on Thursday afternoon appearing above?

Isn’t that what happened to the Jews in Germany and all of Europe when the Nazi’s rose to power? Isn’t that what happened to the 11 Jews killed at the Munich Olympic Games by a terrorist group who went into the Olympic village with only one mission, to kill Israelis?

I saw pictures of the funerals of those precious Jewish soles and my heart breaks. It left me speechless. I am a Jew just like them and I find it hard to think that a neighborhood located right across from the Statue of Liberty should have to go through this. The US is a democracy but it seems that US democracy took a sudden and evil turn for the worse during 2019.

Perhaps the additional police protection that is being assigned to those areas that are deemed vulnerable to future attacks might help, but it won’t bring back the lives of those victims whose families are devastated.

I want to extend my condolences to the families of the victims, May Hashem Comfort You Amongst The Mourners Of Tzion And Yerushalayim.

Flight 11 -Danny Lewin, Madelaine Sweeney, Betty Ann Ong and all victims

On September 11, 2001, Danny Lewin along with many other people lost their lives in the 9/11 attack. Danny was on Flight 11, and according to the 9/11 Commission, it was determined that Danny was most likely the first to die in the 9/11 attacks.

This conclusion was reached by listening to the recordings of the calls made by flight attendents Madelaine Sweeney and Betty Ann Ong. They relayed reports that indicated Daniel Lewin and two flight attendants Karen Martin and Bobbi Arestegui had been stabbed.

And then on an inflight call with American Airlines manager Michael Woodward, these were Madelaine Sweeney’s last words-

“I see water. I see buildings. I see buildings! We are flying low. We are flying very, very low. We are flying way too low. Oh my God we are flying way too low. Oh my God!” (Flight 11 crashes).

In various reports I saw, Danny’s parents and brothers, have no doubt that Danny battled the hijackers. And it is for them a tremendous consolation. “I wasn’t surprised to hear from the FBI that Danny fought. I was sure that this is what he would do,” Yonatan, his younger brother, said. “Danny didn’t sit quietly. From what we heard from the Americans, the hijackers attacked one of the stewardesses and Danny rose to protect her and prevent them from entering the cockpit. Lewin was overcome and bled to death on the floor.

Danny Lewin was also the same person who co-founded Akamai, which has grown to be a leading  American content delivery network (CDN), cybersecurity, and cloud service provider. Akamai  is one of the world’s largest distributed computing platforms, responsible for serving between 15% and 30% of all web traffic

But for this Blog, I want to focus on two important facts pertaining to Danny’s life. The first being that Danny served in the Israeli Defense Force and secondly his brother’s name is Yonatan.

Danny served as an officer in Sayeret Matkal, one of the IDF’s special forces units.[4] Lewin earned the rank of captain.

In 1974, Sayeret Matkal suffered a heavy blow when a failed rescue attempt resulted in the Ma’alot massacre. The debacle led to the creation of the Yamam to deal with domestic counter-terrorism/hostage-rescue missions, while Sayeret Matkal would focus on foreign counter-terrorism/hostage-rescue. Two years later, on the 4th of July 1976, came the most famous mission of the unit, when it spearheaded Operation Entebbe to rescue hostages held in Uganda by at least six Palestinians and two German terrorists supported by regular Ugandan soldiers.[7] The mission was a resounding success, although there were 3 hostages killed, as well as the commander of the Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Yonatan Netanyahu.[8]

So with Danny having a brother named Yonatan as well as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, I thought it only appropriate to provide a quote from Bibi related to the latest attack on Jews which took place in New Jersey, right across the Hudson River from the site of the 9/11 attacks.

In trying to picture what happened on Flight 11 as the hijacking took place, I have an image  in my mind  from the movies made of the Entebbe Rescue mission of that same car that Edi Amin drove. As it approaches the airport loaded with IDF soldiers on a mission to rescue the hostages, the IDF soldiers opened fire on the terrorists who were caught completely off guard.  That element of surprise most likely was the deciding factor in the successful Entebbe mission which to this day is regarded as one of the greatest miracles in Military history worldwide.

For the Entebbe mission, the IDF had only days to prepare, and yet the mission was a success.

Unfortunately for Danny Lewin, he only had seconds to react since it appears he was obviously trained to eliminate terrorists and when the terrorist attacked the flight attendant, he sprung into action. I saw reports that at one point Danny was fighting against the three terrorists who were not in the cockpit, before being killed.

A Few More ISF Soldiers Would Most Likely Have Neutralized Those Hijackers-

What would have happened if a few more IDF soldiers were on Flight 11, and were able to fight together with Danny. It is highly probable that despite the lack of training, those soldiers together would have had a good chance to neutralize the hijackers and storm the cockpit. This is all hypothetical but it does remain a possible outcome that could have taken place, .If that had happened and Flight 11 would have been rescued then not only the passengers and crew would have been saved but more than 1600 people in  the North Tower and vicinity also would have survived.

“The Squad” And The Case Of The Unexplained Receipts

I don’t know what to make of The Squad; it seems relatively quiet from them these days compared to earlier in the year.

With all the focus on the Impeachment hearings, all other political news seems to be of secondary nature. I was beginning to think the same way until I ran across the following story-

This involves the FEC which stands for the Federal Election Commission.  The FEC is the independent regulatory agency charged with administering and enforcing the federal campaign finance law. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House, Senate, Presidency and the Vice Presidency.

It seems there are more than $800,000 of unexplained income given to Omar’s campaign between July and October, 2019,  which the FEC wants to know about.  Omar has until December 26 to respond. It is unclear what action will be taken next, but it does seem strange Omar’s campaign refuses to itemize such a huge amount and expects nothing to be done about it.

Apparently, even if an investigation were to find a reason to charge Omar with violating campaign funding laws,  the FEC is required to have a quarom of 4 members out of a possible 6 and at present only three are active according to the information I have available.

As A Former Minnesota State Auditor, There Are Many Questions That Need To Be Answered  And An Investigation Should Be Launched Immediately Regarding This $800,000 problem.

But there is one point that is flashing a giant red light, meaning danger ahead, which is as follows-

On the FEC internet site there is a section which shows how much each candidate running for election in 2020 has raised. In the section concentrating on House candidates, it shows that there are 2006 entries, meaning 2006 candidates are listed along with the value of their contributions raised from the beginning of this year.

On the list, Omar is ranked as number 11 out of the total of 2006 candidates, and she has raised $2.7 million during this period.

Only 165 candidates have managed to raise more than $800,000 during this whole period, while the remaining roughly 1,840 candidates failed to raise more than that figure.

This means that roughly 90 percent of all candidates could not even raise the $800,000 Omar fails to itemize on her report to the FEC.

If Omar has been in office only one year, and has not been working for residents of Minnesota’s Fifth District, but supports terrorism and refuses to do anything about terrorism in her own district, then where would that $800,000 in unitemized receipts most likely have come from?

Certainly not the wealthy people in her district which she has failed to serve. And if she was voted in by the Somalis who make up the majority of the voting public within the district, but most likely do not have the financial ability to raise such a huge sum of money, then where would that money most likely have come from? Remember we are talking about $800,000 that was reported by Omar’s campaign as having been raised in only three months – July through Sept. 2019!!!!

Many rumors have swirled around Omar working behind the scenes for other countries which support terrorism and the work of terrorists, and Omar’s interest in terrorism and terrorists has been confirmed by the video that surfaced when she was first elected,  showing her being interviewed and explaining the terrorism classes she took when she was in university.

Conclusion And Summary – And that “Some People Did Something” statement

Make no mistake, the rise in vicious acts of terror such as the Jersey City attack must now be addressed by lawmakers or more of the same will continue to happen. But we continually have said that to Congress and nothing is done.

When Omar made her statement “ Some people did something” it gives a clear indication that she supports terrorism otherwise why would she not want to condemn those people who were guilty of the attack? And when confronted by a gentleman who stood at the 9/11 ceremony with that statement on his T Shirt, who I referred to in a recent Blog, why didn’t Omar at least apologize to that person, instead of defending that statement, which she continues to do.

What will it take for Congress to finally wake up and expel those members who talk against Jews, Israel and America itself?-

Hopefully that answer is right around the corner

In the meantime please show support for all those families affected by these terrible tragedies.

Shabbat Shalom
