NO to Zohran Mamdani today
My blog has almost always concerned life here in Israel but I would like to make an exception this time and add my name to all those American Jews who have come out against the candidacy of Zohran Mamdani for Mayor of New York City. I was born in The Bronx many, many years ago and still spend four months every year in The Bronx. And I have already filed my absentee ballot for Andrew Cuomo-not the candidate of my dreams-but the only one who can stop the election of an anti-semite as Mayor of New York!
Yes, an anti-semite. I suggest reading the many articles about his “anti-zionism” which in his case and in many other cases is a cover-up the word “anti-semitism”. I do not want to go through his past statements but his support of the BDS before 7 October 2023 says something.
The last straw for me was his statement against the connection between the Cornell Institute on Roosevelt Island and the Technion in Haifa, because the Technion is connected to the Defense Establishment in Israel-and Israel has now been defined as a country which is guilty of genocide! This is part of a worldwide attempt to delegitimize Israel. We are not guilty of genocide-as far as I remember on 7 October 2023, thousands of Hamas terrorists crossed the border into Israel (and yes whether Mamdani likes or not there is a Jewish State of Israel!) And gang-raped young women, killed children in front their parents. parents in front of their children and in some cases three generations of families in their homes -that is genocide-and what did the people of Gaza, who supported the terrorists and still support the terrorists think was going to happen after that?
That led to a war in which the terrorists hid in tunnels under the beds of their children and the skirts of their mothers. And killing Jews is not acceptable anymore -this is 2025 and not 1942!
The support of a break of relations between Cornell and the Technion is part of a worldwide campaign, which has been very successful in Europe, to demonize Israel and its Jewish citizens. This is not even anti-semitism but Jew-hatred, which has been introduced in many parts of the world in the past ten years!
And Mamdani is a supporter of this!
This is the man who may be Mayor of New York and only a negative vote can stop this from happening. If there is anyone who reads this blog in New York City, please vote for Cuomo!
