Christmas 2016 was indeed a day of joy for President Obama in his final days of office. This man has spent eight years pretending to be one person, and acting as another. He presented himself as a man of courage, and a lover of democracy. From day one I suggested that this Emperor’s new clothes kept the real man hidden from view.
A classmate of Mr.Obama’s from Harvard once told me that Mr. O. was the perfect Harvard product. He had learned the one lesson needed for success: Make your case palatable to the masses, and you will succeed. You will sell your product, your ideas, and attain success and power. So Obama went forward on the political scene promising the voting public “Change” and “Hope” but never defining what kind of change he actually had in mind. He “sold” a personality, a charisma and an illusion. The American people were ripe for the plucking.
Most of us tired of hearing how Mr. Obama sat in a church with Reverand Wright spewing his anti-America, anti-Semitic and anti-Israel philosophy for over 20 years. Surely, we asked one another, if a rabbi in our synagogue was delivering hate messages from the pulpit, would we would not replace that rabbi or find another synagogue to attend? But Mr. O. sat there absorbing it all, and this ideology was within his comfort zone. He did not leave. He did not protest. In order not to appear an overt anti-Semite, once elected, he surrounded himself with Jews who had no affinity for Israel. He welcomed the George Soros-funded “J Street” into the White House so that he could have the appearance of being even-handed on the issue of the Jewish State. Only left-wing Jewish organizations had the president’s ear and they all had one agenda: helping the Palestinians rather than their own people. Illusion versus reality was the name of Mr. Obama’s game from day one.
This president made decision after decision which dismantled the Middle East, brought thousands of lives to an early end, and through inaction and passivity, encouraged Islamic fundamentalist terrorist acts world-wide. His silence brought chaos to the Arab streets as they deposed their leaders. He empowered Iran which was then, and still is, the major funder of terror throughout the world. Experts scratched their heads in confusion. How is it that an American president could want to see this alternative vision of anarchy, versus the classic American desire for order and democracy? Why would this President want to empower Iran which clearly intends to ultimately attempt a total take-over of the Middle East with a return to Sharia law, the servitude of women, and the murder of infidels? How is it that the world looks at a man for eight years and does not see him? Exactly what new world order did Mr. Obama envision? It is clearly not something familiar to any of us in the West.
The deep-seated anti-Israel and anti-Jewish feelings which he was able to contain as long as he needed to, finally found their voice as he secretly forced the Security Council vote in the United Nations after Egypt under President Sisi decided to withdraw the motion on behalf of the Arab league. All past promises made to Israel with words about her right to security and self- defense were proven to be fallacious. Accepting the Abbas mantra that Israeli “settlement building” was the impediment to a peace process, was the ultimate absurdity in his pretense that he was an honest-broker. Requiring not one moment of compromise on the part of the Palestinians, and supporting their cause in the end was Mr. Obama’s last thrust to let the world know just what he thinks about the only democratic state in the Middle East. He wants it gone. He wants to destroy the one nation he has not already succeeded in damaging during his presidency. The only nation in the area which he empowered was Iran, a nation controlled by mullahs. Iran thrives, having been delivered planeloads of cash from the Obama administration and a nuclear agreement that puts the whole of the Middle East on the threshold of an unimaginable horror. The balance of the territory which Iran wants to conquer is in upheaval thanks to US withdrawals and weakness on every front. The only strong Democratic nation in the Middle East is Israel. This is clearly a thorn in Obama’s side which he has found intolerable.
The shattering reality is that England, France, and many other nations have accepted the lies fed to them by the Palestinian authority, that it is willing to accept a two state solution with peace and security for the State of Israel. That lie has been accepted by these nations simply because they cannot believe the alternative. It is time for them to face the truth. The larger their Muslim populations become, the more they have succumbed to the claims that Israel is at the core of the problem. It is easier for these nations to give in to their local pressures than to stand up for what is morally right. Israel is their scapegoat and it is easier to stroke the tail of the tiger in their own midst than to be courageous on our behalf.
After writing my article about UNESCO’s Temple Revisionism (The Times of Israel blog, December 15, 2016) and hearing from political pundits that it “really didn’t matter,” I went to a press conference with Israel’s Ambassador to UNESCO only to learn that once the Palestinians were able to get their flag flying above the United Nations, they immediately had representation on every committee of the UN They then began to hijack every committee for their own political purposes. Of course it all matters. Abbas knows it does. We no longer can kid ourselves that incremental decisions against the Jewish State are irrelevant. In politics nothing is irrelevant.
A very intelligent friend wrote to me after reading one of my articles and asked: “Why are we so helpless?” My response was then and is now, unequivocal. We are not at all helpless. Israel has a strong economy. Israel has a powerful military. Israel has nuclear capability. Israel has forged new friends in the Middle East and elsewhere. Israel has a new friend in the White House and it is the beginning of a new day. Those who proclaim that the only future is a two state solution are not listening to those they are trying to help. Abbas and his cohorts do not want a two state solution, but a one- state solution, in which they would ultimately expel the Jews as they did from every existing Arab nation in the Middle East. The Palestinian leadership has pulled the proverbial wool over the eyes of world’s leaders. The recent vote in the Security Council tells us this is so.
Information has now surfaced that Mr. Obama had been working secretly on presenting this severe vote against Israel to the Security Council even without the support of Egypt and the Arab league. Hence the removal of the request by Egypt was quickly replaced by Obama’s other affiliates.
The same man who once announced that the U.S. would always have Israel’s back, in Shakespearean fashion, laid his dagger bare. His representatives thrust the knife on his behalf. In case you wondered just how upset Mr. O. is at the defeat of his party, his candidate and his ideology in the last Presidential election…. he has made it patently clear that he will not be ignored in the history books.
In this world of cowards, Israel’s prime minister stands up for Israel’s survival. With the help of Mr. Trump, there will be better days ahead for the Jewish people. Christmas eve 2016 was a terrible day for the Jewish State. Thank you Mr. Obama for cementing your legacy in concrete. We will never forget you.
