Obliterating a Moral Compass

I really thought the Democratic Party couldn’t go any lower, politically or morally.  What with tacitly accepting the presence of anti-Semitism in their midst, giving credence to Ocasio-Cortez’s stream-of-consciousness inanities, refusing to accept the Mueller’s reports conclusions, demanding President Trump’s last 50 years of tax returns (it is 50, right?), refusing to identify a monthly inflow of 100,000 illegal immigrants as a crisis, demanding that adolescents and felons be allowed to vote, suggesting that the Electoral College is outdated, floating the idea of reparations for slavery; it’s just one semi-lunatic proposition after another.

But the Democrats have now crossed a line that is simply unfathomable. The Democratic governors of New York and Virginia have actually supported legislation to make the murder of third-trimester fetuses and newly-born full-term babies legally acceptable. These Democratic governors are saying it’s quite alright to crush the life out of a perfectly viable baby, a living human being, because their progressive bona-fides demand that women have a right to dictate the fate of their children, biological reality and morality be damned.

Virginia Governor Northam went one step further in confirming his lack of any common sense or humanity. Babies are fair game in Virginia but the Governor has now signed a bill making animal cruelty a felony. That’s right; feel free to dismember an innocent newborn in Virginia but don’t you dare harm a kitty-cat.

As an adoptive parent myself, and knowing there are tens of thousands of other people desperate to adopt a child, I know that every baby has a loving home waiting for them, even if that home is not with their biological parents. That a Governor could decide that a baby’s life is less important than scoring political points with a segment of his constituency speaks volumes about his utter lack of decency or rationality and is a reflection of how some in the Democratic Party will adopt any position, no matter how extreme or detached from reality, if they believe it will lead to electoral victory.

I have written repeatedly about Jewish Americans’ near-inexplicable fealty to a Democratic Party that has welcomed unapologetic anti-Semites into their midst and which continues to espouse policies and positions that are harmful to Israel, but surely even these Jews might recognize that the Party they support so enthusiastically has crossed the Rubicon of Reason.

If you care about the innocent and the vulnerable, then surely you would want to protect these soon-to-be-born and just-born children.  Keep that in mind next time you’re in the voting booth.
