Oh, the bunkers you’ll go! An ode to Dr. Seuss

AFP Photo/Ahmad Gharabli

Congratulations!
Today is the day.
A rocket has launched!
It’s off on its way!

Sent by Hamas
and built by Iran,
you can bet it will travel
as far as it can.
Jews, you’re on your own! Know which bunker to choose!
Because Hamas will decide when its rockets go boom!

In Jaffa you’ll look up and down streets. Look ‘em over with care.
About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.”
And if you dare wear a kippah and be so indiscreet,
take care if you wish to walk down your street!

And in Jerusalem you may not find any
you’ll want to go down.
Because the police, of course,
are nowhere to be found!

Arab riots are there,
(and everywhere is Ben Gvir).

Out here things can happen,
and frequently do
to people as Jewish,
and Israeli as you.

In Ashdod when explosions happen,
don’t panic! Don’t fret!
Just duck, look for cover,
and hope for the best!

OH!
THE PLACES TERROR GOES!

Palestinian flags raised up!
On the Temple Mount, what a sight!
Can it fly any higher?
If it could it just might!

Our government lags behind, moving in slow speed,
allowing terrorists to act with total impunity.
I thought wherever we fight, we’re the best of the best?
That wherever Israel goes, we top all the rest?

Except when we don’t.
And, right now, we’ve choked.

I’m sorry to say so,
but, sadly, it’s true:
Hamas
and Hezbollah
got the best of us Jews.

We’re still so hung up,
we constrain use of force.
But if we don’t act now,
we’re par for the course.

Because when we come down
from this unpleasant bump,
there’s a very good chance
these same terrorists we’ll confront.

And when terror strikes,
it’s not really much fun.
For the destruction it causes
is not easily undone.

In Lod there are streets that Arabs have marked
with broken windows, and burning cars sparked
from the fires that rage, destroy, and singe,
where Arabs riot outside and frightened Jews stay in.
How much more can we lose? How much more can they win?

And if we choose to fight, should we turn left or right…
or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite?
Or go around back and sneak in from behind?
Simple it’s not, I’m afraid you will find,
it’s difficult for politicians to make up their mind.

Utterly consumed
by the next electoral race,
they continue to make the same old mistakes.
All while making the same weirdish case,
for heading, I fear, toward a most useless place:

The Waiting Place…

…for Jews are just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go,
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
on which they might be killed, because we act too slow.
Or for the phone to ring, in their home,
and be told their loved one is no more.
Remind me again what we’re waiting for?
Why are we just waiting?

Waiting for Hamas to bite?
Or waiting for more Jews to die in this fight?
Or waiting around for Friday night
when sirens will wail? When – not might.
If we’re waiting for it to end, or for a better break,
we’ll remain forever stuck in this place,
pretending our enemies are not driven by hate.
Why are we waiting?

NO!
Don’t be that Jew!

Who believes somehow it will all be great!
by waiting and capitulating…
That we’ll find just the right ‘peace’ to make!
and prove wrong all the naysaying…

Meanwhile Palestinian flags are flip-flapping,
see how they ride high!
The Arabs are ready for anything under the sky.
But are we ready for anything to secure Har HaBayit?

Oh, the places terror goes! The destruction that is done!
The points terror scores! The games terror won!
And the magical things terrorists do with a bomb
will make them the winning-est Jew killers of all!
Calling all Martyrs! You’ll be as famous as famous can be,
with the whole wide world watching you die on TV!

With everyone else going so ‘woke’
WE are our last and only hope.

I’m afraid that sometimes
Israel forgets we can fight hard too.
That we can win this war,
‘cause we are the Jews!

Jews Alone!
Whether we like it or not,
because alone is something
we’ve been quite a lot.

And now were alone, so there’s a very good chance
we’ll be reminded that it’s not just Bibi or Gantz.
But that somewhere, that someone, from that place far beyond
will be there for us, when we can no longer go on.

But on we will go,
though the social media be foul.
On we will go,
though our enemies prowl.
On we will go,
though the sirens howl.
Onward up many
a Tel Aviv street,
though our hearts may be sore
and our spirit is weak.

On and on we will fight,
and know, we’ll fight hard,
and destroy every terrorist
wherever they are.

Enemies be warned,
if you were not before,
we’ll eliminate your leaders,
we will win this war.
And be sure when you step,
step with care and great tact,
for the Israel Defense Forces
are wherever you’re at.
Don’t forget we are also dexterous and deft…
and we simply won’t stop until there are none of you left.

And will Hamas succeed?
No! Not at all! Oh please!
(100 and 4/4 percent guaranteed.)

TERROR, YOU’LL LOSE COUNTLESS!

So…
if you’re Hamas or Hezbollah or the PLO,
you will be responsible for the seeds that you sow!
We know all your places!
And today is your day!
Israel is coming…

coming your way.
