Olympic Wrap Up: Day 2
Tennis – Shahar Peer vs Maria Sharapona
After losing to Sharapona six times in the past, Shahar Peer was hoping that maybe London2012 would be the time she could record her first success. But on her least favored surface, Peer struggled and lost in straight sets 6:2, 6:0. She still has the mixed doubles for which the draw is done tomorrow.
Badminton- Misha Zilberman
Misha made history as the first ever Israeli Olympic Badminton player. Kol Hakavod
He lost both matches he played in straight games and is eliminated from the tournament. Misha is just starting his Olympic career, we wish him luck, and we hope to see him in Rio 2016!
Gymnastics Artistic Valeriia Maksiuta
Valeriia had a rough day at the office. On the vault, she fell and scored 13.3, she scored a 9.433 on the uneven bars and her performance on the beam was shaky. She scored a 10.533 on it and a 12.933 on her floor exercise. She ranked 31st in the individual rankings after the first preliminary round.
Swimming
200m Freestyler Nimrod Shapira Bar-On
Nimrod finished 2nd in his grouping with the time of 1:48:60 and this ranked him 21st so he did not advance to the semi’s.
100m backstroker Yaakov Tamarkin
Yaakov swam 24th fastest with a time of 54.91. He didn’t make the semi-finals either. He has a great swimming career in the future and we will be watching him at the European and World Championships.
Men’s Judo 66kg Golan Polak
A first time Olympian Golan has four years to work on his skills before he hopefully goes to his 2nd Olympics the Rio 2016 games, we Golan was beaten by Judoka David Larose.
