On the 2nd Yahrzeit of the Oct. 7th Massacre…Appeasement 2.0

While We Continue to Hope for Peace…Appeasement 2.0

Where are we on the second yahrzeit of the Oct 7th Massacre? We’re wondering where the next Jew-hatred attack will occur.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is doing backward cartwheels after declaring his support for a Palestinian state on Sept 21st – believing that appeasing radical Islamists would keep them from his doorstep. It didn’t. Eleven days later, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish year, the attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation, an Orthodox synagogue in Manchester, proved him wrong. And then, shamefully, despicably, two days later, there were anti-Israel marches in Manchester despite the PM’s request that organizers cancel the event following the week’s deadly synagogue attack, saying demonstrators should “respect the grief of British Jews.” Implausibly, the anti-Israel group the marchers were supporting, Palestine Action, had been declared a terrorist organization by UK Parliament, which stated that the group’s: “orchestration and enaction of aggressive and intimidatory attacks” passed the thresholds established in the Terrorism Act 2000.

Where will the next attack be? One week ago, a Jewish man was attacked in Essonne, a suburb south of Paris. The attacker grabbed him from behind repeatedly yelling “Dirty Jew, I’m going to kill you.” According to the French Ministry of the Interior, in 2024, 65 percent of all attacks related to religion in France targeted Jews.

Even so, both the British and the French are, once again, in the leadership of a worldwide appeasement policy: Appeasement 2.0, appeasing radical Islamists, a collective group akin to the Nazis of WWII. Whether it is Hamas, the Houthis, Hezbollah, ISIS, Al Qaeda, etc. ̶  they all state the quiet part out loud: Destroy Israel and kill the Jews. And, yet again, the world is turning its back on the Jewish people.

On Sept 30, 1938, the world witnessed Appeasement 1.0, with the shortsighted Munich Agreement when France, Great Britain, and Italy allowed Germany to annex (steal) the Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia. In exchange, Hitler assured the Western Allies that he had no further territorial ambitions. {In the current peace talks in Egypt, is anyone seriously considering allowing Hamas to keep their arms and to play a continual role in the Gazan government?}

The world turned a blind eye then to the rising danger of Nazi power – in the same way the world is now refusing to recognize the rise of radical Islamism. In the US, radical Islamists have permeated national institutions – from college campuses to Congress and beyond. Anti-Zionist marches occur on a regular basis. Jews are accosted, attacked, and murdered on the streets.

The same is occurring internationally – from the West to the East. Jews refused service in restaurants; Israeli businesses boycotted. Athletes excluded from competitions. Cultural genocide – musicians, singers, and artists excluded from venues. Why? Because Israel chooses to defend herself. Because Israel wants her hostages back. Because Israel needs Hamas destroyed. Why does the world not see Jewish pain?

Watching the United Nations Security Council meetings, inexplicably held on Rosh Hashanah, was devastating  ̶  77 delegations were either absent from the hall altogether or departed at the start of Netanyahu’s remarks. Previously, country after country called for a Palestinian state, but not for the release of the hostages or a disarmed Hamas as a condition. This is appeasement 2.0 – bending the knee to the radical Islamists in the hopes that they will leave your country alone.

I do not agree with many of Netanyahu’s policies, but this was not policy disagreement. This was a global boycott. This was a silent massacre. Once again, the world will not listen. The world refuses to acknowledge Jewish pain.

Oh, the children, you cry. YES, the children. The children that Hamas uses as human shields, and, YES, the children who starve because Hamas steals their food. The world cries genocide, while the world knows this could have stopped long ago. If Hamas would have surrendered and returned the hostages – the war would have long been over.

Why does no one cry out for the hostages? Taking hostages is a war crime. Why has the Red Cross NEVER visited the hostages? Why do we see videos of starving hostages – one digging his own grave? Why does the world refuse to recognize Jewish pain?

In EVERY radical Islamist charter it states, in one form or another: “Death to America, death to Israel, curse upon the Jews, victory to Islam.” The Palestinians have been offered a state several times, but they have rejected it each time. Will this be any different? No – because the objective is to destroy Israel – not to live side by side. From the River to the Sea.

There are 22 Arab countries, which are members of the Arab League, and there are 53 Muslim-majority countries. There is ONE Jewish state, which is the only democracy in the Middle East. It is the only country in the Middle East where women have full rights. It is the only country in the Middle East with gay rights. Ask yourself: Why do the radical Islamists want to destroy Israel?

Since ancient times, once every year at the Passover holiday, the Jewish people say: In each and every generation they arise against us to destroy us.”

But they don’t always win. Never again. Am Yisrael Chai.
