Once upon a time there was no Google

To the tune of “Once Upon A Time There Was A Tavern”

Once upon a time there was no Google;
When you used a dictionary;
Encyclopedias were very handy;
And memory was all in your head;

Chorus:

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they’d never end,
And then one day,
Those geek nerds came our way;

We stopped seeing our friends,
We text the latest trends,
Those were the days,
Oh yes, those were the days!

Phones had cords and then you dialed a number,
No one had to dress to make a call;
People had their friends to take their photos,
Family shared common DNA.

Chorus:

Then Bill Gates stormed the world,
Steve Jobs sure took a blow,
Mark Zuckerberg brought Facebook to your palm;
No longer need to dial,
You can just spend a while,
Pretending strangers are your BFF’s.

We stopped seeing our friends,
We text the latest trends,
Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days.
