President Biden is making an untimely visit to Israel (and Saudi Arabia) in July. I understand his visit to the Saudis as he has to grovel at their feet for more oil after he called them a pariah state during his election campaign. But why is he visiting Israel? Is it a photo-op for Lapid, his preferential center-left candidate, before the upcoming election? Or is it more sinister?
After destroying America’s foreign policy in Afghanistan, he basically gave a green light to Putin to invade Ukraine, and encouraged China to continue their plans to invade Taiwan and take over the South China Sea. I’m not sure if you’d describe the disastrous southern border fiasco as a failure of foreign policy or domestic policy or both.
And then there is the general Democratic Party’s policy of encouraging anarchy: Allowing BLM to riot and loot without consequence which lead to the election of leftist Democratic district attorneys who do not prosecute most criminals, letting them back on the streets to continue their crimes. Dispersing illegal immigrants throughout the country by bus and plane in depth of night by the thousands. Ignoring rising Anti-Semitism around the country. Encouraging abortion on demand up until birth. Spending trillions of dollars that the government doesn’t have and has no chance of paying back.
So what does this have to do with his visit to Israel? Think about what his administration has done so far in relation to Israel. No one can dispute that the PA is a corrupt dictatorship. The only reason the Israel government has felt the need to cooperate with it in various venues is because the alternatives are possibly worse or will lead to anarchy instead of despotism. However, the Biden administration treats them as if they were a viable, respectable government that would be a peace partner, Mr. Biden has appointed several Palestinian, anti-Israel supporters to influential positions in his administration. He has done everything he could to reopen a separate consulate for the Palestinians in the heart of West Jerusalem. He has found ways to bypass the Taylor Force Act: funding the Palestinians without any concessions on the “Pay to Slay” policy which encourages Palestinians to kill Jews on the street just to fund their families forever. And now he is also likely on this visit to visit a Palestinian hospital in eastern portion of a united Jerusalem without any Israeli participation! This in addition to demanding many more Israeli concessions on housing, land rights, demolitions, etc.
All of this support for the autocratic corrupt Palestinian Authority comes at a time when the administration does nothing and does not mention any other persecuted minority in the world. There are more innocent Christians being massacred in Nigeria on a regular basis by Islamic extremists than Israel has ever killed. And 90+ % of Palestinians killed by Israel have been demonstrated to be terrorists, not civilians. Fifty worshippers were killed recently by Boko Horam while praying in Church in Nigeria. Did you ever hear about it? And the Palestinians are not much better to their own people. Bethlehem was a majority Christian city. After years of persecution and discrimination, it now has about a 10% Christian population. And what about the vocal Palestinian opposition leader, Nizar Banat, who was recently picked up by the PA security forces, tortured and killed for calling out the PA. Did the President say anything about that? Does he comment about the Palestinian detention center in Jericho where detainees, some for the capital crime of cooperating with Israel, are routinely tortured and maimed? But they were very quick to imply Israel’s fault in the report of the Palestinian reporter killed in a crossfire when the Palestinian’s refused to share the bullet to determine who actually fired the deadly shot.
So what good outcome will come out of Biden’s visit? I am hopeful that this visit will demonstrate to American Israelis the disaster that President Biden has brought to America, Israel and the world and will make sure they are registered for the November elections in the States (in addition to the Israeli election in October). And they will let the Democratic Party that is currently ruled by the “progressive” Anti-Semitic, Anti-Israel left, know that the American people are not willing to accept such policies. Hopefully the Democrats will then realize that their constituents want a more centrist party and then Israel can once again receive the bipartisan support it deserves to everyone’s benefit.
