Operation Northern Shield

Last week Israel publicly declared the existence of underground tunnels constructed by Hezbollah to conquer the Northern Galilee.

For years residents in Northern Israel have been complaining about hearing drilling and heavy machines right under their feet literally.

Since the Second Lebanon War in 2006 the terrorist organization has been growing in power and experience.

During the beginning of the Arab Spring in Syria Hezbollah have been very active helping President Assad stay in power.

Hezbollah fighters are now one of the most battle hardened soldiers in the Middle East with a lot of experience fighting against the Islamic state and other terrorist militias in Syria.

Due to the support they received from President Assad they have also gotten a great amount of financial backing from the Islamic Republic of Iran since Obama decided to undo the sanctions placed on Iran.

Money infusion Hezbollah received from Iran and Syria has allowed them to invest in their own capabilities to increase the lethality of their organization.

Now Hezbollah has an estimated 100,000 to 120,000 rockets that if launched against Israel it would overwhelm Iron dome and cause unprecedented amount of Israeli civilian causalities and not to mention the damage it would do to the Israeli economy with thousands of rockets raining down on Israel every day.

Hezbollah wants very much to attack Israel which is why they had the idea to invade northern Israel and occupy several Israeli cities while obviously killing people in the process.

So they devised a plan to dig tunnels into Israeli territory to launch an invasion of the north which if it would have succeed would have resulted in the death of many Israelis.

Thanks to a lot of great intelligence gathering and the IDF’s vigilance they were able to prevent a catastrophe that would have been very difficult to reclaim those towns without causing the death of many Israeli civilians.

Nasrallah is fuming at the mouth right now probably looking to try to see who is the rat in his organization who sold them out to Israel about their plan to use tunnels and invade the Northern Galilee.

Most likely as a reader is looking at this blog post Hezbollah is actively purging themselves of anyone they may suspect of collaborating with the state of Israel.

Israel dodged a bullet right now that would have significantly caused serious damaged to Israel’s morale to have been invaded by a terror organization.

Lebanon today is a terror state with Hezbollah having its own members in the Lebanese parliament would mean a war against Hezbollah would be a war against all of Lebanon.

Present greater threat looming on Israel right now is the large stockpile of missiles Hezbollah has been building up for over ten years.

Israel threatened the Lebanese government to have them reign in Hezbollah telling them a war with Hezbollah would be also seen as a war against the Lebanese government itself, so even Lebanese governmental buildings would be off limits.

Next war in Lebanon is not a matter of if it will happen but when.

Everything Israel has done until now including the recent operation of Northern Defense is to prevent the outbreak of  a war which has been accomplished with a great amount of intelligence gathering and preemptive air strikes.

Operation Northern Defense has prevented another war with Hezbollah, but the lingering question is for how long.

Hezbollah is still a powerful organization both politically and militarily it has proven itself in Syria along with a highly trained and battle hardened troops.

Many Israeli soldiers with the exception of the ones who fought on the front lines in operation Protective Edge are not as battle hardened or have the experience in war the Hezbollah terrorists have gain for the last few years in Syria.

If war would start Israel would suffer a lot of military and civilian causalities, the Israeli government knows this so every single action they will continue to do will be to stall Hezbollah efforts to start another war.

Operation Northern Defense is a great military operation the IDF is carrying out, but Israel needs to prepare for the eventuality of a new war with Hezbollah and that we may have to reoccupy Southern Lebanon again to prevent future wars with Hezbollah and created a better buffer between the Israeli residents and the murderous terrorists in Lebanon.
