Parshat Pinchas

In last week’s Parsha, we learn about Bilam unsuccessfully trying to curse The Children of Israel. And about Pinchas Killing Zimri the head of the tribe of Shimon and Kozbi the daughter of Balak and stopping the terrible plague that caused the deaths of 24,000 of Bnei Yisroel.[1]

This week’s Parsha we learn more about Pinchas himself [2] According to the Zohar Pinchas is Eliyahu Hanavi who will announce Mashiach’s Arrival at the end of days.

And another Interesting note according to Midrashim Bilam who was the one who caused this plague to come about by suggesting that the Moabite Women to sin with the The Men of Israel were is Lavan Arami who is an ancestor of Klal Yisroel through his daughters Rochel and Leah. In the end Pinchas killed Bilam [3]. Because at the end of the day good always beats out evil.
