Peace, at what cost?
The longing for peace is engraved in the soul of our people. Every government since the Six-Day War, tried to achieve a peace solution, yet none came close to it. The problem is obvious for the Israelis, our land may not sustain any further reduction in size; it’s as simple as that. The world has been hammering at the Israelis from the very beginning, to settle the Palestinian problem. These are matters which cannot just be “pushed aside”.
- As long as Israelis cannot walk freely through Arab (Palestinian) territory, just like the Palestinians who walk freely in Israel, no peace will be worth the paper it is written on.
- The ever-present support from the outside, to terrorize Israel, gives the Palestinians a “false” sense of security.
- Deep in the Arab culture, dwells the phenomenon that honor and pride may surpass the value of human life. That “status” contributes to a false sense of reality. They will keep their honor at any cost.
- “Never again”, No nation on this planet has been “brutalized” as did our people throughout history. The sense of self protection is overwhelming.
Hopefully, the days will come when our neighbors will no longer seek our demise, our people will be recognized for their contribution to the wellbeing of our planet, and peace can be an achievable pursuit.
