Prayer for the Rabbis

Blessed and Holy One —

Shield and protect us from the power of our rabbinate

Straighten the structures of our professional organizations and communal boards

Strengthen the hands of our lay leaders and amplify the voices of our community members

Shelter our fears, frustrations, and failings in the safe bosom of family and friends so that these relations may offer us patience, loving rebuke, and constructive support

Send us to seek guidance and professional care, in humility, with open eyes and open hearts

You, who have entrusted Your servants with powers to declare the forbidden as permissible and the impure as pure —

Set limits now, so that we never again turn trust into distrust and the holy into the profane

And let us make it so
Amen.
