Praying for Baltimore

I am pissed off and sad. Watching what is happening in Baltimore moves me to tears.

I think of Freddie Gray. He was someone’s son. I don’t know what happened, but his mother is greiving. His friends are grieving.

I think of the police. They are doing a hard job, trying to protect Baltimore’s citizens. I could not do their job.

Then I think of the rioters. Do they think they are changing people’s minds with their actions? Don’t they care that they are destroying their community? Their neighborhood? Do they even care?

There is a difference between protesting and rioting. Huge differences. The Reverend Martin Luther King,Jr. protested. He changed the minds of millions. He never set a car on fire or threw a rock. He never beat someone up or called for the murder of anyone. This is what the rioters don’t get:if you want real, lasting change, violence is not the answer.

I am praying for Baltimore. And for the Grey family. May they get comfort and real answers. I am even praying for the rioters. I pray they work for real change, not violence.
