Pro Israel and Anti Trump

The world has changed immensely since October 7, 2023.  Those who we as Jews once trusted, we have learned we can not.  This includes, friends, family member’s, business associates, politicians, celebrities, corporations, and countries.

I am a liberal minded, zionist, old school feminist, secular Jew. My head spins when I read or watch the news.  I am outraged that the MeToo movement has excluded Jews who have been sexually assaulted. Rape is NEVER resistance.  Rape is rape no matter who is being victimized.  

Back in the 1980s I worked as a rape victim advocate in Chicago.  I carried a pager, when it went off I rushed to an Emergency Room in one of the many city hospitals to assist a person who was just assaulted. It didn’t matter if they were a man, woman or child.  It didn’t matter if they were a member of the LGBTQ community.  EVERYONE was treated equally.  

One of my first calls was an African American woman.  When I walked into the hospital room a police officer was undressing the woman.  The officer was treating the survivor as if she was subhuman.  Somehow I lifted a man who was over six feet tall and tossed him away from the survivor, and started yelling at him.  The police officer used the excuse she was a known drug using, prostitute, and was wasting his time with the accusation.  The officer continued by saying the victimized woman was taking too long to undress.  

I demanded the officer leave the room and started talking to the woman.  She told me she hit the back of her head against the ground as the alleged assailant knocked her to the ground.  She told me her head was spinning.  Her speech was slurred and her eyes seemed dialated. 

After the woman changed into the hospital gown, I went out of the room and told the ER physician what the survivor said.  Soon after she had a CT scan, which showed she had a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Her blood work came back clean.  She was admitted to the hospital to deal with her injuries. If a rape victim advocate wasn’t present, she most likely would have been discharged, and died from the brain injury.

During my rape victim advocacy training I was taught that if a prostitute was walking down the street naked and was sexually assaulted against her will, it’s considered rape.  No one deserves to be assaulted.  When a Jewish man, woman or child states they were victimized — they MUST be believed.

“Old school feminist” used to believe it didn’t matter what a person’s race, religion or their sexual orientation when it came to both Sex Crimes and Domestic Violence survivors.  You believe them.  PERIOD!

I have no idea how or why those connected with the radicalized Islamic world infiltrated the feminist movement?  It makes no sense to me. How did women who supported equality and inclusivity get brainwashed into believing something else?  Those who call themselves feminist today, are NOT.  

I still support a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion and to control her own body (including Jewish women), without input from anyone else, including politicians.  We have a duty to stop turning back the clock and turning our country into Gilead. 

I love Israel and believe Israel is the Jewish homeland.  At one time I believed in a two state solution, yet since October 7th, I changed my mind.  The words of former Israeli Prime Minister, Golda Meir keep playing in my head.

When peace comes we will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons (and daughters), but it will be harder for us to forgive them for having forced us to kill their sons (and daughters). Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.

I used to support Israeli Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, yet over the years my views on him changed.  It appears he’s putting his own ego ahead of those being held hostage.  I also have issues with anyone who is chumming up to Donald Trump as Bibi  is.  It appears birds of a feather flock together. 

A few weeks ago Jon Polin, father of Hersh Goldberg Polin said:

If you’re in a position of authority and you are not willing to do the things necessary to bring home hostages, that’s your political choice. But then, don’t wear the pin.

When it comes to Donald Trump I look at his track record with women, and the eighteen women who have come forward publicly stating he sexually assaulted them.  Anyone who works in the anti rape field, will tell you most alleged and convicted offenders have several victims who never come forward.  Back in 2023, a court awarded E. Jean Carroll $5 million in a judgement, after hearing her allegation of being sexually assaulted back in 1996.  

Besides the sexual assaults, Donald Trump has 34 felony convictions.  That’s fourteen more felony convictions then Jeffery Dahmer, twenty seven more felony convictions then Charles Manson.

When I think of Donald Trump, how can anyone ever forget how he separated migrant children from their families.

Earlier this year Donald Trump suggested that the racist / antisemitic group called “The Proud Boys” could have a place in politics.  Trump has defended his decision to pardon those convicted of assaulting police officers during the January 6th attack on our capital.  

How and why many in the far right orthodox world are supporting a sexual predator dumbfounds me.  Don’t they realize it’s only time before Donald Trump turns on them and reverts back to his antisemetic ways?
