Why is Jerusalem holy? Why is the Love of the Eretz Yisrael so Holy? asks Reb Shlomo Carlebach
When the Holiness Expands
Now I want to tell you something very very deep. Nobody ever wanted to take away Avraham’s possessions. No one ever claimed that Avraham stole, no one ever claimed that Yitzchak stole. Throughout Yaakov’s whole life, there are so many claims on him. Esav takes away all his possessions and then Lavan says that Yaakov stole everything from him. Then the night before he meets Esav he endangered his life because he forgot three little pots. As much as Yaakov was very healthy, he mamesh endangered his life for three little pots.
Why does everybody want to a piece of Eretz Yisrael – Little Israel?
The featured video here called Israel – Our Land is from Reb Shlomo’s appearance on February 6, 1994 at Temple Chai, a reform synagogue in Phoenix, Arizona. The concert was organized by Rabbi Sarah Leah (Ayla) Grafstein and over 800 people attended
Reb Shlomo wrote so many songs, told so many stories about Eretz Yisrael and Jerusalem. He encouraged a yearning and love for Eretz Yisrael amongst his follower He encouraged people to come to visit, live in Israel, and established the Moshav Meor Modi’im. His passion for both the Love of Eretz Yisrael, Unity, and peace is a common feature amongst his diverse followers.
The fire and love of Israel are still burning in his followers today who were inspired to be beacons of light in Jerusalem, Hebron, on The Moshav, all over of Israel and the world.
This Sunday evening, there is Live Event of Music, stories, and inspiration by his diverse followers. It promises to be an evening of Unity, support for the Land, an evening of seeing the good in others, and good.
The Timing of this Event is planned in the Month of Tammuz whose healing opportunity of the month is seeing. This theme of seeing the Good in ourselves, others, and Israel is the theme of the Three Weeks.
During this period of mourning over the destruction of both the 1st and 2nd Beit Hamikdash every one of us is asked to make greater efforts to be better, to try harder and make everything a lot better; especially in all aspects of ‘Ahavat Yisrael’- to love every single fellow Jew as you love yourself.
This Evening promises to be an Inspiration for unity, appreciation, love, and hope, and peace in Israel.
In conclusion, let’s read from the inspiring words of Reb Shlomo
“It is possible to do everything G-d wants you to do and not to be intimate with G-d. You know, beautiful friends, Mount Sinai is where G-d told us what to do. But Jerusalem, the Holy Temple, is where we are intimate with G-d. The Holy Temple is the headquarters for being close to G-d and to each other. But when the house is destroyed, there is no place to be intimate anymore. And gevalt! Are we longing and crying to be intimate with G-d, with every Jew, with every word of the Torah, and, one day, with the whole world…On Tisha b’Av the Messiah comes. On Tisha b’Av until the Six Million, you only heard the destruction of the Temple; you could not hear the footsteps of the Messiah. Today, the voice of destruction gets further and further away, the voice of the coming of the Messiah gets closer and closer. Let it be this year that the whole world will be fixed, and G-d’s holy intimacy comes back into the world and into our lives. You know, beautiful friends, I’m so proud of our moshav and our shul because they are filled with prayers, with so much dancing and joy, but also with so many tears begging G-d for intimacy with every word of the Torah with every Jew, with every human being, with all of nature. I have a feeling it will be this year”.
