The rise of anti-Semitism in Canada and the first point of the Trump’s peace plan: deradicalization of Gaza.
I immigrated to Canada close to half a century ago. At the beginning of our live here, the political and social climate of the country was good. At least most of the decisions of the government of Canada were reflecting common sense. In the last decade, with Justin Trudeau as the Prime Minister from Liberal party of Canada, the trust of Canadians in the state leadership and the country ‘s standing internationally had plummeted. Not surprising, Justin Trudeau resigned from his post in disgrace. But against the notion of common sense, my countrymen and countrywomen had elected the same Liberal party and Mark Carney as our Prime Minister.
This affects me deeply on personal level. I am Jewish. The anti-Semitism had raised its ugly head during the rule of Justin Trudeau but now, when the hypocrite, Mark Carney, gave a present to Hamas by recognizing Palestinian state, the hatred to Jewish people had reach unimaginable levels. The Canadian authorities are doing nothing to curtail this problem-just producing ineffective platitudes lacking any real strength and effect. Recently, Mark Carney stated he will honor the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant and arrest Benjamin Netanyahu if he travels to Canada. What a generous gift to the Jew haters in Canada and around the world.
The anti-Semites can’t accept mentally the idea that Jewish state is strong and powerful enough to respond to the barbaric assault of Hamas on October 7 on Israel-the tragedy for Jewish people of the magnitude the world did not witness from the time of Holocaust. The anti-Semites forgot that Jews are not any more the defenseless creatures depended on the attitudes and moods of others.
To avenge the loss of Jewish lives, rape of Jewish girls, taking as hostages Jewish seniors and babies and other unimaginable atrocities, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, initiated a campaign of retribution for the crimes committed by Hamas militants and many residents of Gaza. The intention of the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, to arrest the Israeli leader can be seen as the continuation of the anti-Semitism evident in the La Presse, a Quebec daily newspaper, publication on March of 2024 a cartoon showing Netanyahu as a vampire villain as the Nazis used in their Judeophobic propaganda.
I applaud the Americans who have elected as their leader Donald J. Trump.
I applaud the Americans who have elected as their leader Donald J. Trump, a person with common sense in his decision making inside the country and internationally. I follow closely his statements and actions.
I would like to analyze the current status of the specific area of the Trump’s 2025 peace plan-the deradicalization of Gaza. The first point of the Trump Gaza peace plan in 2025 states: “Gaza will be a deradicalized terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors”
We know that indoctrination of the children in Gaza with hatred towards the Jews and Israel starts from kindergarten and continues through all the levels of schooling. The modern history provides examples of deradicalization of the populations of the countries such as Germany and Japan, after their defeat in WWII. In both countries the change in the people’s attitudes in regards of human rights and religious freedoms happened because of the presence of the inspirational leadership. In the Federal Republic of Germany, it was its first Chancellor, Konrad Adenauer, who transformed his country into democratic powerhouse and, at the same time, inculcated into the population of Germany the sense of moral responsibility. In Japan it was the emperor Hirohito, who renounced his divine status and publicly accepted the concept of the constitutional monarchy. This gave impetus to transform the imperialistic mindset of the population to democratic values of modern democratic Japan.
The role of the leadership in the deradicalization of Gaza Strip is entrusted to the “Board of Peace” which is headed and chaired by the President of United States, Donald J. Trump, along with other heads of state. The “Board of Peace” will be in charge of the rebuilding of Gaza until the Palestinian Authority (PA) meets the conditions outlined in the Trump’s peace plan in 2020 and Saudi-French proposal.
The mediators and guarantors of the peace deal, US, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, have signed a peace declaration on October 13 2025, during the international summit hosted by Egypt. The signatories of the peace declaration, the two-faced duplicitous Qatar and open hatred of Israel by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyep Erdogan, both should be watched closely in the fore coming days and weeks. Bur it is a topic for another article.
The similar situations witnessed in modern history, did not lead to the realization of the nation’s aspirations for self-determination under the supervision of the international body such as assigned by United Nation or by any other international entity. After the basic needs such as food, shelter and assurance of physical safety is provided, the nation or specific group of people want their own representative(s) be in charge of the process leading to self-determination.
As per the Trump’s peace plan in 2025, the intended representative of the Gazans, after period of reformation, will be the Palestinian Authority under the leadership of Mahmoud Abbas.
The survey of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PCPSR) reveals that before the October 07 Hamas’s attack on Israel 80% of Gazans saw the PA as corrupt and its structure was not popular among the enclave’s population.
The Palestinian Authority does not have the respect of the people of Gaza. United States, in protest of the PA policy to pay to families of Palestinian prisoners and terrorists killed in the conflict, is withholding economic aid to PA from 2018, following up on the Taylor Force Act passed in 2017. This and other outrageous instances of disregard of human norms by PA puts the reform of the Palestinian Authority in front of the things for the “Board of Peace” to address. Reformation of PA; disarmament and relinquishing of military, political and civic responsibilities by Hamas-are necessary steps for creation atmosphere conducive to deradicalization of Gaza Strip.
