Russian Jewish Voters Take Credit For Barron Loss

The  United Russian American Political Action Committee is claiming credit for herlping Hakeem Jeffries beat Charles Barron.

"The days of Russian-speaking Jews sitting on the sidelines of New York politics are over," says the organization in a statement.

"Yesterday, in a Democratic Congressional primary election, [the] Russian-speaking community turned out in record numbers to hand a moderate Hakeem Jeffries the victory over a well-known radical, frequently racist and consistently anti-Semitic Charles Barron," said the group. "Out of almost 26,000 votes cast for Jeffries, close to 5,000 we Russian-speaking Jews, who represent less then 10 percent of the 8th District's population.

Rabbi Mordechai Tokarsky and the Committee "joined forces in an extremely successful media blitz and effective get-out-the-vote operation. For the first time, the Russian-speaking Jewish leaders coordinated closely with the Sephardic Jewish community leaders in order to ensure that an Anti-Semitic, Anti-Israel candidate does not represent the community in Congress."
