The Blogs: Sabraman to the corona curse rescue

Israel was in a mess in the corona pandemic with numbers of infected piling up and the multi-colored Israeli government seemed at a loss to know what to do as the start-up nation slid helplessly into mass unemployment and business closures by the thousand. In short a grim picture. Then all of a sudden Israel’s legendary prime minister BeeBee had a brainwave as he was wont to do in times of national crisis. He suddenly recalled that long ago in the days of his youth he had read a comic about Israel’s legendary superhero Sabraman and he wondered if perhaps Sabraman, if he was still alive, could come and rescue Israel and the world from its terrible fate. At the same time he realized that if he could locate Sabraman and get him to use his tremendous powers to defeat the virus for good he BeeBee would also go down in the history of Israel and the world as the democratically elected leader who helped to save humanity. And so his search began. His first call was to Uri Fink”

“Hello Uri, this is BeeBee, how can I get hold of Sabraman?”

“Sabraman? Who is that?”

“It’s Israel’s great superhero who always rescues Israel in time of crisis like now.”

“But I haven’t seen or heard of him for ages. I don’t draw superheroes any more. But someone who might know where he is, is David Herman, if he is still around.”

“David who?” “David Herman. He was a publisher who created Sabraman together with me.”

“How can I find him?”

“I’ve no idea where he is. But he might be able to help you. Good luck, BeeBee.”

BeeBee was getting nervous. Every moment was precious. He contacted the Chief of Police. “Hello, Shmulik, it’s BeeBee here. I need your help urgently. Get hold of David Herman for me , fast.”

“David Herman? You mean the publisher?”

“Yes, the publisher of Sabraman.”

“Oh him, he’s still in prison for a serious crime.”

“Doesn’t matter, I have to speak to him urgently.”

Bee Bee sat impatiently by the phone most of that morning. Apparently they couldn’t locate this Herman.

He was about to try another avenue when the phone rang.

“Hello, can I speak to Bee Bee, this is David Herman”

“Are you the publisher of Sabraman comics?”

“Well I was until they threw me in prison for infant-bribery.”

“My dear fellow if you can help me I will order your immediate release.”

“Why, what for, it’s quite pleasant here and free food etc.”

“I need to get in touch with Sabraman immediately. Have you go his number?”

“Of course, we’re always in touch. Why all of a sudden do you need to speak to him? Isn’t that what a government is for?”

“Well, dear David, it’s like this, I head the Israeli government as you may know, and, as you also may know, my name is Binyamin Netanyahu, BeeBee for short, and as you know we’re currently in the grip of this terrible Corona pandemic, and I’ll be frank with you, I.. we don’t have a clue how to deal with it, and then I suddenly remembered Sabraman and how he dealt with all those terrible crises and enemies we faced back in those days when I was a youngster, and how Uri Fink in his comics showed how Sabraman and his mates defeated all of Israel’s enemies. So I said to myself, maybe we can find Sabraman and get him to deal with the corona pandemic for Israel and the whole world.”

“ A very good idea, BeeBee, and I am going to tell you how to contact Sabraman after all these years of neglect…”

“Yes, yes, David, dear Mr. Herman, how, how..?”

“Very simple, dear Bee Bee, just play the Sabraman theme song

which has never been played on Israel Radio or on any Kan radio station for that matter, and I guarantee that as soon as you do that Sabraman will contact you and with a bit of help from Uri Fink will get to work to get rid of this corona curse for Israel and the whole world. Only Sabraman can do it, so BeeBee get movin’, and don’t forget to get me released from prison into a nice Jerusalem penthouse.”

“Of course, my very very very dear David Herman and I’ll tell Israel Radio that they Kan and must start playing the Sabraman theme song non-stop so that Sabraman will immediately come to the Knesset to meet me and together we shall defeat Corona.”

And so Israel radio immediately started to play the Sabraman theme song and Sabraman met BeeBee in the Knesset that very same day, and the rest is history…
