Self-Reflection- Elul 3- Mini Course

What acts of kindness have you done in the last year?

איזה חסדים עשית בשנה האחרונה?

Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.

“סוקרטס אמר, “החיים הבלת נבדקים אינם שווים לחיות

Thank you for joining me, on a 29 days journey as we undertake a “cheshbon nefesh,” “accounting of the soul.” We will ask questions covering 29 traits, or middot one for each day of the month of Elul.

The Hebrew month of Elul

The Hebrew month of Elul offers us an opportunity to prepare for the High Holy Days ahead. It is a time of introspection. The Torah inspires us to develop our character, Tikkun Middot, becoming better people by correcting our faults and improving our character.

Food for thought

Are we happy with the lives you have been leading? What have we left undone? Have we made amends for our mistakes? Are we ready to forgive those who wronged us?

Elul Self-Reflection #3

Gemilut Chassadim- Acts of Kindness. The Hebrew word Chessed חסד means kindness. Gemilut Chassadim are acts of kindness.

What acts of kindness have you done in the last year?

איזה חסדים עשית בשנה האחרונה?

Self-reflection brings perspective to our lives. It helps us learn, grow, appreciate and understand. When we fail to reflect on our lives, we lose perspective, get caught up in things that don’t matter, and often lose sight of the things that are most important.

What Is Self-reflection? השתקפות עצמית

Self-reflection is the process of diving deep into your thoughts, emotions and motivations and determining the great, “Why?” behind them.

Self reflection is a gift to yourself. Take the time to think about, meditate on, evaluate your behaviors, thoughts, attitudes, motivations, and desires.. You may also wish to keep a list of people from whom you need to seek forgiveness, and another list of those you wish to forgive.
