Senator Walsh’s comments
I have been a nurse for over twenty years. I have taken care of people from all walks of life. I have worked days, nights, weekends, holidays. One thing I have never done is play cards during a shift.
A Washington State Senator, Maureen Walsh, recently said that nurses spend a good portion of their shift playing cards, among other things I checked Senator Walsh’s profile, and of course, she has never worked as a nurse. If she had, she would know that is not true.
Nurses I have worked with has been a compassionaye, caring people who work hard to take the best care of the patients. I have personally held a 90 year old man whose wife of 70 years was dying .I have held the hands of those dying. I have dobe CPR on patients who ended up passing away. I have worked my butt off to save patients and cried when the outcome was not what I hoped for.
Senator Walsh’s uneducated comments about nurses were made and hopefully the voters will vote her out. One thing I know for sure: if Senator Walsh is ever a patient in a healhcare facility, she will get the best care from nurses that she made less than kind comments about. And she will see no nurse playing cards.
