Setting a start date to control a narrative
Newscast: today, June 6, 1944, American troops launched an assault with massive numbers of troops, landing craft, and air bombardments on beaches in Europe against Europeans defending their homeland. Facing an unimaginable disadvantage, the Europeans, mostly Germans, are fighting valiantly against the invaders. Thousands of defenders were killed trying to stop the invasion. It is noted that Germans are no threat to America and that at the time of the invasion, Germany is staunchly defending itself against hordes of Russians advancing from Russia and invading Germany. The associated USA bombing campaign likely is killing thousands of civilians in the farming districts surrounding the invasion.
Newscast: today, August 6, 1945, the United States of America, without warning, dropped a massive bomb of 20 thousand ton equivalent of dynamite on the sleeping Japanese city of Hiroshima killing hundreds of thousands of civilians. Japan has been struggling against odds to defend itself against USA forces gradually approaching Japan via a campaign of seizing Islands in the Pacific to enact a siege against Japan, forcing its people into starvation and depravation.
Of course, both these supposed newscasts are accurate; the problem is that by using a start date that ignores prior history and selecting news and adjectives, the news distorts and shifts sympathy from victim to aggressor.
This is the deception of choice in the war against Israel. The three most grievous instances of this deception are the dates of 1948, 1967, and October 8, 2023.
The 1948 displacement of Arabs from Israel ignores a war started in 1948 by Arab States, the purpose of which was to wipe the newly declared Israel from the map and to kill as many Jews as possible in the process. It ignores the removal of every Jew from areas conquered by Arabs (i.e. East Jerusalem, the West Bank,Gaza) and the subsequent expulsion from Arab States of Jews whose ancestors had been living there for over a thousand years.
The 1967 critique of Israel’s preemptive strike ignores the buildup of Arab forces preceding this strike with open intent to invade and repeat the effort to take Israel off the map.
The October 8, 2023 date ignores what happened the day before when Arabs again invaded Israel, this time with rapes, burnings, and infanticide.
My own start date of the Arab-Israel wars is in the 1880’s: start here and tell the whole truth.
