Shooting star
Nasrallah was assassinated last Friday, and his death was confirmed the next day.
These days, the world is very impressed by Israel’s continuous devastating attacks, eliminating much of Hezbollah’s leadership, and (by blowing up pagers and walkie-talkies, and monitoring Hezbollah’s cell phones) disrupting their ability to communicate.
The Zohar (the book of Kabbalah) seems to have predicted Nasrallah’s demise.
In Balak 212b the Zohar states that before the time of the revelation of Moshiach, “a star will shoot out …, swallow 70 stars, and shine and glow for 70 days, and on the sixth day, it will be seen on the 25th day of the sixth month, and it will be gathered, on the seventh day, at the end of seventy days, on the previous day, it will be seen in a Roman city; and on that day, three high walls of that Roman city will fall, and a great hall will fall, and the ruler of that city will die.” The Zohar then goes on to describe Moshiach’s revelation and rulership.
The Torah refers to the month of Nisan as the beginning (or head) of the months. Thus, when the Zohar talks about the sixth month, it means the month of Elul (which is the sixth month after Nisan).
This past Saturday, three days ago, was the 25th day of Elul. On Friday (which was the day prior to the 25th of Elul) Nasrallah, the de facto ruler of Beirut — which was once an important Roman city — was killed together with two other important commanders. On Saturday, the 25th day of Elul, Nasrallah’s death was confirmed.
Seventy days before the 25th of Elul was Saturday the 14th day of Tamuz. On that day, Israel showed impressive firepower by bombing a port in Yemen, (and also blowing up a Hezbollah ammunition depot in south Lebanon, and conducting air strikes across Gaza).
And on that day, the Torah portion of ‘Balak’ — containing the prophecy of the shooting star which, according to numerous commentators, symbolizes Moshiach — was read in synagogues.
Thus the Zohar’s description of a star shooting out 70 days before Saturday the 25th of Elul, and culminating in the astonishing strike on the day prior to the 25th of Elul, and then the confirmation, which resulted in the entire world looking on in awe at what happened, seems to be an accurate prediction of the amazing events of recent days.
May the Almighty continue to protect the Jewish people, and to bless Israel’s efforts, to protect the land and its people, with much success, and to be written and inscribed for a good and sweet year.
And may we witness the ultimate Redemption with Moshiach very soon.
