Siren! by Reeva Brown

On my gap year-long programme, we were based on kibbutz.

The first Friday afternoon of my being in Israel ever, had arrived.

I was having my pre Shabbat shower….. when I heard the siren.

Grabbing my towel I ran out of the cottage. In a state of panic and confusion I tried to make my way to the miklat (bomb shelter).

IMAGINE the look of horror on peoples faces as I went tearing down the path towards the miklat!

IMAGINE my embarrassment when they told me that the siren was the Shabbat siren ushering in Shabbat!
