I’m so tired of this politically correct crap. That’s called politicians’ speak.
– Donald J. Trump during the campaign
It’s been argued that the norms of political correctness were stifling political (and any) discourse; that we should go back to “just saying what we think.”
Never mind that that would mean hurting people with our words – which is clearly forbidden for sensitive people, ethicists and people following the Bible (Proverbs 18:21, 12:18, Leviticus 25:17 – Rashi, from Baba Metzia 58b).
It sounds so honest and noble when people “just want to say it as it is.” Now this supposedly righteous motive has been disproven.
Senior federal budget officials have told the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that seven words and phrases — “diversity,” ”entitlement,” ”fetus,” transgender,” ”vulnerable,” ”evidence-based” and “science-based” — were not to be used in documents that are to be circulated within the federal government and Congress in preparation of the next presidential budget proposal.
The Times of Israel notes: Since US President Donald Trump took office, a number of federal agencies have moved to downscale data collection on topics like climate change and homeless people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender and to remove information on such topics from some government websites.
Fox reports that “climate change” and “global warming” are disappearing from government websites.
If this crusade supposedly for freeing speech was not for holy reasons, it proves just an attempt at sanctification of bigotry and money over ethics.
The banned words describe very neatly the policies and bigotry of this Administration. Please take note. No second-guessing needed anymore.
Or we should phrase it: Stop Trump’s Politically Incorrect Straightjacket!
