Starting Over

After a much-needed social media break, since the October 7th Hamas attack at the music festival in Israel, I feel ready to begin writing again. I decided to clear out my platform because I realized I was all over the place, writing and tweeting solely based on emotions. I know better that won’t help our cause but cause more problems for our people.

Some of you might recognize my name. I used to have a large Twitte/X following because I was one of the first Trump supporters to end my support for Trump and eventually join the Democratic Party. After seeing the antisemitic response from the left after October 7th and the Democratic Party’s complicity, I left the party and moved back to the center. I left feeling betrayed by many people with whom I spoke up for and fought for their rights.

I felt like I didn’t have a party to call home because neither side called out their own, whether it was Jewish college students being bullied and harassed by the left in their so-called protest, calling for the genocide of Jews. Or when Nazis spray paint graffiti on causeways, harassing Jewish worshippers at synagogues, or other Jewish institutions. Calling antisemitism out when the other side does it means nothing to me except to give hypocrites an excuse to attack the other side, hoping for a viral social media moment.

My new focus is to combat antisemitism, whether it’s through my writings on Times of Israel, rejoining Twitter/X, or public speaking events. I hope to inspire people to call out antisemitism, even when it happens to their own side. As a Jew, that means more to me than when people call it out when antisemitism occurs on the other side; that’s easy to do. I don’t expect antisemitism to slow down. I pray that more people will know it and call it out when it happens.
