Tahesha Way is the leader we need in Congress
At a time of rising antisemitism and anti-Israel hatred across our nation, this is a critical moment to support leaders who stand with our community and champion our values. The February 5th special primary election in New Jersey’s Eleventh District is our chance to elect one such leader to Congress: Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way.
Tahesha Way has been a stalwart friend of the Jewish community throughout her career.
She has traveled to Israel to experience the country firsthand, and as Secretary of State, she oversaw the New Jersey-Israel Commission to strengthen economic and strategic ties between New Jerseyans and the State of Israel. Tahesha Way understands the lifesaving impact of U.S. security aid to Israel and refuses to play politics with that aid — unlike others in this race who would weaponize it for political gain.
Lt. Gov. Way has stood with us in her unequivocal support for the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism – the consensus position among New Jersey’s Jewish community, despite efforts by some in our state to undermine it.
Like so many of us, this is personal for me. As one of the 100 New Jersey rabbis who recently called on our elected leaders to adopt the IHRA definition, I was proud to see Lt. Gov. Way strongly denounce the state Assembly when it failed to do so this month.
She didn’t mince words: “I, too, take offense that my own state did not adopt IHRA, and I will definitely move this forward as your congresswoman.”
I also had the privilege of hosting Lt. Gov. Way at our synagogue, where she doubled down on her pledge to stand with our community in the face of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish hate. The sincerity of her story and her presence were truly heartwarming and we felt like she understood our plight wholeheartedly.
The winner of the Democratic Primary on February 5th will be our next representative in Congress. Support for the Jewish community is on the ballot. Support for Israel is on the ballot. And there is only one candidate on the ballot who will consistently stand up for us in Washington.
I strongly urge my fellow New Jerseyans to vote on February 5 and elect Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way to Congress.
