Taste In Music – By Daniel Jacob Levy

My funniest Israel moment was in the summer of 2011. While kayaking down the River Jordan near Kfar Blum I ended up falling into the water.

I swam onto the nearest boat and asked the guys sitting on it in broken Hebrew if I could join them. They answer in the affirmative and haul me on board, then start muttering to each other in Arabic.

What was really funny was how it transpired that we had almost identical tastes in Middle Eastern music despite living thousands of miles away. Thank Sharif Majnun and Nancy Ajram…
