The atmosphere which will get Jews and/or Israelis killed

I usually write blogs critical of Bibi and his government but there is a world outside of Israel. There is a world which has been created by supporters of organizations like the BDS, which have done everything possible in the past few years (starting way before 7 October) to create an atmosphere in which Israel and the Jewish People have become pariahs of the so-called democratic world. This new world took one big giant step, a few days ago in England, towards a world in which Israelis and Jews can be attacked and even murdered, because of the fact that they are Israelis and/or Jews.

One does not have to have a good imagination to see that you can attack Israelis in European streets or even kill Israelis and or Jews in the streets of the United States. One does not need a good imagination because it has already happened and is happening right now!

One can certainly differ with policies of the present Israeli government. I have been one of those for the past three years who has been demonstrating every Shabbat in the evening against the government of Bibi.

But not accepting Israel’s existence is a different game, which allows you to do anything to the State of Israel and its citizens and other Jews throughout the world who may or may not have any connection with the State of Israel.

I live here in Israel and was here on 6 and 7 of October 2023 and saw the results of the acceptance of this hatred. I really do not have to repeat this but over one thousand Israeli citizens were butchered, burned, raped and killed in front of their parents and/ or children. And yet on 7 October and in the days immediately that date, there were many people in the West including Professors, a few at Columbia University in New York (where I have been teaching the spring semester since 2004) who published messages on the web congratulating the Hamas terrorists who did the killing. This, even before the use of the word “genocide” was introduced to describe our reaction to that massacre by thousands of Hamas terrorists who then returned home to hide under the skirts of their mothers and the cribs of their children, in the tunnels they had built over a number of years. What exactly did those terrorists and their supporters throughout the world think was going to happen after 7 October? We are not the Jews of Poland in 1942 and it is about time that the world accepts that fact-YOU CANNOT KILL JEWS ANYMORE.

Ever since that day of 7 October the propaganda machine of Hamas and its supporters have turned us into the pariah of Western society. And you can do anything including physical attacks and murder to the pariah!

What happened in England a few days ago and in many other democratic European countries, was a continuation of the creation of Israel as a pariah country. Of all problems in the world the most important problem in the world became the products being manufactured or grown in the territories captured by Israel in 1967. But that has not been enough somewhere in that discussion in Parliament we heard about the forced movement of Arab populations in that area.

Really how many were moved- hundreds of thousands? Tens of thousands? How many? Yes, I too, as well as hundreds of thousands of Israelis including ex-generals and other ex-members of the security services are against the actions of those “crazies” who have gone into houses in Arab villages and yes, we have been and will continue to fight this behavior because we do not believe this behavior represents “us”! But the problem is how big a problem is this in terms of the world today-How many people in the occupied terrotories were killed in the past few weeks -how many people were taken out of their house and moved to another city or country. Yes, is it a problem here and it has been criticized by most sectors in Israeli society, but the reaction in the Western World has been one of hate!

The British Parliament has continued to create an atmosphere of hate in England not one of compromise and the end result has been the fear of attack amongst of the Jewish population in England.

I mentioned earlier that I teach at Columbia University and I was there in the Spring of 2024 when the University grounds were taken over by “pro-Palestinian” demonstrators. On that day when the campus grounds were taken over I went to see what was happening and of course I saw all those with signs reading “Free Palestine from the River to the Sea” which obviously meant something was going to happen to seven million Jews who live in that area!!!!

But what really made an impression on me was the hatred in the faces of the demonstrators -hatred even for the “colonial” imperialistic country in which those demonstrators live. I realized then that they were capable of supporting any pain that would be inflicted on Israelis or Jews.

So I ask those people who still believe in democracy in the West and other parts of the world to stop creating an atmosphere of hatred. You will be to blame for what may happen, if that still matters to you!
