The Bibas Boys and the Hamas Emperors With No Clothes

There are moments in history so morally corrosive, so unambiguously evil, that they burn through the fog of politics, narratives, and justifications. The recent Bibas babies body handover orchestrated by Hamas and their fellow terrorists was one of them. It was a pageant of death and it revealed that in today’s world evil no longer hides in the shadows. It celebrates itself openly, with music, banners, and cheering crowds. The Hamas emperors have no clothes.
The Bibas babies – Kfir barely 9 months and Ariel 4 years old – were innocent, fragile, defenseless. And they were not just slaughtered by terrorists. Their bodies were then mutilated and proudly displayed in coffins in front of enthusiastic Palestinians gathered around in celebration. The air was thick Thursday with the sound of triumphant music and roaring crowds, a carnival of sorts. Gazan children stood up front to ensure they didn’t miss the show of dead Jewish babies. Gazan teens danced on a stage adorned with a banner featuring the murdered Bibas boys’ faces. Grown adults pulled out shiny smartphones to document every minute lest they miss a minute of Jewish pain. Official cameramen ran around capturing every choreographed moment.
And too much of the world? So deafeningly silent.
It should be deafeningly loud. There should be a roaring collective voice against this atrocity. Hamas are right there parading their naked evil selves. Where are the Obamas, Save the Children, Jennifer Garner, Oprah, the Pope – all of the powerful celebrities who should be screaming aghast at the blatant desecration of innocence? Those who do speak up – mostly Jews – are joined by a sparse collection of allies. They scream into the void, pointing at the naked emperor while the crowd ignores his imaginary robes.
There is no nuance here. It’s black and white. This is evil – raw, deliberate, and proud of itself. There is a Babylon Bee headline that reads: “Satan Watches Baby Coffin Parade, Says, ‘Wow, That’s Disturbing.’” It’s funny – until you realize how painfully accurate it is. Even the archetype of evil would wince at the threshold crossed this past Thursday.
Yet, so much of the world says nothing and moves on while the corpses of babies are held up like trophies. Will history be kind to this silence? Will those who had the chance to speak out ever ask themselves: Did I call out the evil I saw clearly before me?
Hamas has no clothes. And so few are willing to say so.
