The big damage of ‘interception night’: Bibi is not going anywhere

A screen capture of rocket interception, from a family video taken on April 14th

For days on end, the “experts” on TV were talking about the Iranian response to the assassination carried out by Israel in Damascus. The public was full of anxiety and people were already preparing generators and cans. The pressure increased significantly on Saturday, especially in the evening hours, with announcements from the IDF spokesman and the cancellation of youth activities on Sunday until further notice.

Fortunately, with the help of the USA, Jordan, Great Britain, and France, Israel managed to intercept the vast majority of threats against it. There is no doubt that this is a great success for Israel and a significant blow to Iran’s deterrence and regional status. We can see those results with the pro-Israel statements by the Saudis on Sunday.

Israel’s success on the night of April 14th also signifies a significant blow to itself. The implication of this night is that Netanyahu is consolidating his position and the stability of his government, and he will not go anywhere unless something extraordinary happens.

However, this was not a “brilliant exercise” by Netanyahu. Netanyahu was under severe anxiety in the days leading up to the Iranian attack. It could be seen in his photo-ops and statements and even in a video he prerecorded and published late Saturday night.

Netanyahu and his partners did not expect such a result. That is the famous “Netanyahu luck”. No ability, no intelligence, no judgment, no responsibility – Netanyahu and his partners bring nothing to the table. And yet, luck prevails even in the absence of all these.

The mobilization of the United States, despite the actions of the Netanyahu government, is unfathomable. President Biden is Israel’s hero. Again. Also, the mobilization of Great Britain and France with major local criticism of Israel, and above all – Jordan, which suffers from Israeli humiliations one after another. Yet, at the moment of truth, King Abdullah was there, as was his father Hussein.

Most of the Israeli public, and certainly the international audience, understand the damage that the continued rule of Netanyahu and his zealous partners will inflict on the future of the State of Israel, the Middle East, and perhaps world peace.

President Biden sought to protect the citizens of Israel and above all to avoid a deterioration that would lead to a regional and even global war. Although this was acheived in the immediate term, in the medium term, the mobilization of President Biden and his international partners strengthened the position and stability of the most problematic and destabilizing party the region has known in 75 years -Bibi and the fanatics.

These are the factors responsible for the reality in which Israel finds itself in recent years, certainly since October 7. Netanyahu and the fanatics around him have proven that the country’s well-being or that of its citizens is not their top priority. Even their mouthpieces like Amit Segal talk about the fact that a wide war is a positive thing. They want an all-out war. From the all out war, maybe in their mind this will hasten the coming of the Messiah.

Anyone with eyes and a brain understands that the survival chances of the State of Israel begin with the ability to get rid of Netanyahu and his partners as soon as possible. Unfortunately, that possibility has become very remote after yesterday’s events.
