These four headlines, extracted from just the last eight hours of TOI reports, would indicate that all is not well in the ‘Land of Milk and Honey.’ Indeed, headlines over the past 66 years have tended to follow much the same pattern and, even back before then, the overall situation could never have been considered idyllic, not by any stretch of the imagination.

Can any improvement in the general tenor and disposition of all those still held hostage by this long legacy of rivalry and confrontation ever be imagined, even established as a counterpoint to what has gone before?

Or must that be discovered only in realms way beyond the bounds of idle speculation and wishful thinking?
