The End of Zionism

Much of Israel is in the throes of mass delusion.

Though no one has yet been released, many of us, particularly the much-photographed denizens of hostage square, are floating on a cloud of sublime happiness. They are coming home, we have been told. Donald Trump, the man who has engineered this coup and is possibly the most corrupt person ever to serve in the White House, deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.

Huh?

Are we for real?

Thank G-d the hostages are due to come home but what a terrible price we will pay?

And what about the estimated 2000 terrorists who will now be set free, among them 250 murderers serving multiple life sentences.

This is hardly a time to rejoice.

We are losers.

Israel has lost this war.

Despite all of our efforts and the lives of hundreds of our precious soldiers, Hamas is still standing.

Our failure to achieve a decisive victory in Gaza is not even a proper army but a terrorist band; it is Zionism’s death knell.

Born in 1896 in the mind of a man whose Jewish identity was so shallow that he failed to circumcise his own son, Herzlian Zionism convinced thousands of Jews to trade in their traditional Judaism for the hope that once the Jewish people normalize and have their own country, the world would come to love us.

That didn’t work out. This war has brought out popularity to an all-time low.

I’d venture to say that one of the reasons Netanyahu was so quick to sign this terrible deal was his inability to live as the leader of a Pariah nation. Netanyahu is a secular Jew, a man of the world. He lacks the Jewish backbone needed to live in isolation. So do many Israelis. Too many.

This war should have been a no-brainer.

We have an army.  It’s well-trained and well-armed. We dropped 85,000 tons of arms on the Gaza Strip, more than the US army dropped on Dresden, but we didn’t win.

Instead, we are opening our jails and releasing the people most likely to commit the next Oct. 7.In Gaza, Hamas gunmen, now calling themselves police officers, are marching through the streets toting machine guns and shouting anti-Israeli slogans.

Is that what victory looks like?

No

So why not keep on fighting and take over the Strip?

That would be the ultimate Zionist move, but the world won’t let us. As this war has demonstrated, our army and government are marionettes manipulated by the heavily compromised US government and its Qatari allies.

Though Gaza is part of Biblical Israel, conquering it now is unrealistic and dangerous. I hope and pray that  Israeli rogue militias dont attempt this. We are not free agents.

The Zionist dream is a lie.

But we shall not despair. We are, above all, Jews.

As the emblematic prayer Aleinu states, we are made differently from the world’s other nations. Our problems cannot be solved with guns and bombs.

Our difference is not a disability. It is a privilege. G-d has our back. Look at the miracles we have witnessed over these past two years. Look at the hostages emerging from tunnels asking only for the chance to recite the Kiddush, the sanctification prayer affirming their connection to G-d.

But there’s no free ride.

G-d has rules for us to follow and consequences if we dont.  Peace treaties will not help us nor will guns or bombs.

Aligning ourselves with G-d and His Torah is our only way out.
