The entire world is focused on one small strait

Used to be, that Iran harassed Israel. And although Israel said that Iran is a threat to the entire world, the world just shrugged it off.

Now Iran is blocking the strait of Hormuz, and the world is suffering. Suddenly everyone sees that Israel was right.

The world is helpless, unable to free up the strait.

Iran is willing to unblock the strait, if (among other demands) they are allowed to retain their enriched uranium.

The US won’t agree. So there is a stalemate.

The US could start bombing again, but there is no guarantee that this would work.

They could start escorting ships again, but so far that hasn’t worked so well.

Meanwhile the world is suffering; and learning the hard way, that Iran’s regime is a clear and present threat.

Fortunately, US and Israeli bombings have degraded much of Iran’s military capabilities.

The situation is intriguing. People wonder how it will play out. And how much longer can it go on like this?

It seems surreal. One regime holding the entire world hostage.

Iran has shown clearly, that one evil deed, blocking the strait, is bringing ruin and suffering to the entire world.

And conversely, freeing up the strait would bring enormous benefit to the whole world.

Maimonides writes that a person should always consider the world balanced, like a scale. And one good deed can tip the scale, and the entire world, towards salvation.

Indeed our individual good deeds, like putting on Tefillin, and women lighting candles before Shabbat, open channels to receive Divine blessing, which brings light and salvation to ourselves and to the entire world.

And when the nations fulfil the seven Noahide laws, which G-d told Moses at Mount Sinai to tell all nations, then this brings peace to the whole world.

One good deed can change everything.

One good deed can save the world.
