The Jewess Patriot: Rosenberg Versus Emhoff – It’s Daddy’s Girls

Take politics out of the story. Close your eyes and imagine a Chanukah gathering, a peaceful protest for ending antisemitism or a local fundraiser for your favorite Jewish community center.
The discussion goes from what’s new streaming to the neighbors latest news. One neighbor has a daughter advocating in America and Europe to end antisemitism and another neighbor has a daughter around the same age who denies her Jewish heritage that she inherited from her father and both paternal grandparents. Worse, that daughter has promoted a fundraiser entitled, “Supporting urgent relief for Gaza’s children,” on her Instagram account, which raises millions for the same children that are taught to stone, stab and shoot Jews anywhere and anytime.
The same daughter used her social media platform to officially back Democratic socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani for New York City mayor days ago.
Let’s face it, every Jewish grandmother would cover their face in disbelief and say, “Such A Shanda” or a shame or a disgrace to their family or community about the second one while everyone would try fix their grandson up with the first Jewish warrior.
I’m talking about Ava Rosenberg, daughter of Sid Rosenberg, recently appointed by President Trump to an important position of Jewish leadership and Ella Emhoff, daughter of Second Gentlemen, Doug Emhoff.
So it boggles the mind that anyone would question the appointment of Sidney Ferris Rosenberg and the termination of Douglas Emhoff as board members of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.
It’s interesting to note that neither father started their lives related to the Holocaust. Both were not brought up religiously and both started careers out of the political arena. Yet, both made headlines last week about the Holocaust.
Jewishness was something that was elevated by accident. Emhoff, by his wife’s political career and Rosenberg’s by the popularity of his syndicated morning show.
Their daughter’s relationship to their Jewish heritage is what separates them and makes Rosenberg qualified to advance Holocaust awareness and education and Emhoff unable to justify the fact that he even held the same spot.
It’s not the fact that he married out of the faith twice. Many do, and reform and conservative rabbis recognize the children of these marriages. Michael Douglas, Jaime Lee Curtis, Maya Rudolph are a few who speak proudly of their father’s roots. Ella Emhoff not only denies her father’s Jewish blood, but does everything possible with her celebrity status to dishonor it.
In contrast, Ava Rosenberg has gone public about her ordeal on a college campus. She was viciously harassed and doxxed by fellow students at her university in the UK. In fact, Ava Rosenberg was accused of endorsing genocide, and forced to remain away from campus for months. She learned from her father to use her voice to express her pride in Judaism and about visiting Israel, something both had never done before October 7th and both have experienced several times since the attacks and both have become the faces of proud Zionists.
Now, every Jew knows Sid, both unlike most Jewish activists, I have known Sid for over a decade. I was honored with Sid in 2018 at New York Fashion Week at a runway show benefiting New York firefighters. Sid handed me my award of the Jewish Patriot of the Year in 2019 from the Queens GOP and co-hosted a Trump Birthday event with other patriots from Trump’s birthplace of Queens, New York. When I told Sid I was running for Congress, he and the late Bernard McGuirk insisted I announce my candidacy on their number one rated morning show.

I helped Sid connect with fellow Jewish patriots like Siggy Flicker, I brought Rabbi Marvin Heir to WABC for Holocaust Remembrance Day in 2021, we stood together in Milwaukee with his cousin Republican Jewish Coalition National Chairman and Former Senator Norm Coleman and last November I texted him to become a coalition candidate for ZOA Coalition in the 2025 World Zionist Congress, which he gracefully accepted.

Doug Emhoff has never publicly addressed his daughter’s actions. It’s very hard to find any activism on his part that doesn’t involve his wife’s professional career or aspirations.
The future of Judaism isn’t about how many bagels topped with cream cheese and lox you eat, how much money you donate to Jewish causes or how you “Americanized” and assimilated. It is all about Jewish children taught about their faith, their responsibilities to follow Halacha or laws to the best of their abilities and to never forget the Holocaust and how six million Jews were gassed, shot and treated like cattle just because they were Jewish, including one million children.
That is why Sid Rosenberg is the right choice and Doug Emhoff was rightfully fired from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. Holocaust education starts at home and passes the torch to daughters. We choose Ava!
