The King’s Servant on Trial

JERUSALEM, In the murky engine room of the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, Tzachi Braverman operated for years as the regime’s ultimate, ruthless enforcer. As Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief of staff, he was the quintessential gatekeeper and institutional bouncer, tasked with managing, burying, and shielding the inner sanctum from the outside world.

Today, that shield has shattered. Braverman is no longer just a shadow operator; he has become the epicenter of state corruption. From severe allegations of rewriting the historical record of October 7 to holding clandestine conspiracies in subterranean parking lots, his descent lays bare the moral decay of an administration under siege.

Rewriting History: The October 7 Protocol Scandal

Long before he faced criminal exposure, Braverman’s greatest currency was absolute discretion. But when a government collapses in a historic disaster, discretion quickly curdles into crime.

During the chaotic, blood-soaked opening hours of the October 7, 2023, Hamas onslaught, Braverman allegedly applied a heavy hand to rewrite the historical record. According to police investigations, he aggressively pressured a senior PMO stenographer to alter transcripts and timestamps of critical early-morning consultations, most notably, the exact timestamp of a fateful phone call between Netanyahu and his then-military secretary, Maj. Gen. Avi Gil.

When the stenographer rightly balked, warning that tampering with official state records was a criminal act, Braverman allegedly bypassed her entirely, altering the document with his own hand. For a nation still bleeding from the worst security disaster in its history, the realization that the regime was doctoring the truth in real-time is nothing short of a betrayal of public trust.

The Diplomatic Exile That Died

As the legal net began to tighten, the PMO reached for its time-tested playbook for loyalists in distress: escape into diplomacy.

Netanyahu’s camp attempted to parachute Braverman straight into the prestigious post of Israeli Ambassador to London, a soft landing designed to remove him from the domestic chessboard while paying off years of blind loyalty. But the stunt blew up in their faces. Faced with unprecedented public outrage, legal hurdles, and the looming shadow of impending indictments, the engineered appointment evaporated. London would not be his sanctuary. Braverman remained trapped in the wreckage he helped build.

The Parking Lot Conspiracy: The Feldstein Connection

If the protocol scandal exposed a desperate attempt to distort reality, Braverman’s entanglement in the “Feldstein Affair” proved that a small, panicked mafia mentality had taken root inside the Prime Minister’s Office.

The scandal exploded around Eli Feldstein, a former PMO spokesman arrested for leaking classified intelligence to the German tabloid Bild. Yet police investigations uncovered a surreal sub-plot: a clandestine rendezvous between Braverman and Feldstein in the pitch-black dead of night, inside a subterranean parking lot at the Kirya military headquarters.

According to prosecutors, Braverman used the cover of darkness to tip off Feldstein about a covert investigation swirling around the leaked documents. He allegedly read out the names of other suspects, including reservist Staff Sgt. Avi Rosenfeld, and probed whether the leak traced back to Feldstein himself, dropping the chilling assurance that he “could turn it off.”

For the prosecution, this was not office mentoring; it was textbook obstruction of justice. The road to an indictment for fraud, breach of trust, and witness tampering became an inevitability.

A Regime on Trial

The journey Tzachi Braverman made from the inner sanctum of absolute power to the threshold of prison is much more than a personal drama. It is a searing indictment of a system that prioritized political survival over national security.
In a functioning democracy, wartime protocols and state secrets are sacred, standing far above partisan loyalty. For a fixer whose entire career was dedicated to shielding his boss from accountability, the cruelest irony is that his own clumsy attempts at concealment stripped away the mask of the entire regime.
