The Leftists Who Stole Tisha B’Av
Tisha B’Av!
The ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av! Preceded by three weeks of mourning for destruction of the First and Second Temples, it is symbolic of the many tragedies experienced by Jews, including expulsion from their homeland, Israel.
On Tisha B’Av Jews abstain from food and drink and read the elegiac Eichah (Lamentations) written by the prophet Jeremiah.
Some Jewish Leftists have stolen Tisha B’Av and turned it into an ”Immigration Day”.
They are not talking about Shalom and Sadie on the Lower East Side of New York, they are referring to Central Americans and others crossing southwestern border. of the United States.
The Left calls illegal aliens (a statutory term) “immigrants, undocumented immigrants, refugees” and lately, supposedly referring to those previously deported, as “returnees”, anything but “illegal aliens.”
“Truah” described upcoming Tisha B’Av immigrant activism in sixteen cities nationwide. They declare that they are acting in uniformity with JStreet, BEND THE ARC, etc.
Those belonging to Leftist synagogues may have gotten the email.
The facts are that there millions of illegal aliens in the United States.
Nearly 100,000 crossed (crashed) the border in June, 2019 alone.
Most are unskilled, non-English speaking, arrive with children to which they have no biological connection. Human and drug traffickers and gangs (18th Street, MC-13) are among them as well as those previously deported and with criminal records.
The Democrat controlled Congress want open borders. Dem politicians have declared “Sanctuary States” and “Sanctuary Cities” and encourage illegal aliens to “resist” arrest by ICE.
Jewish Democrats have the story wrong.
Tisha B’Av is about the expulsion of Jews from their ancestral land.
America is not the homeland of the illegal aliens.
In their frenzied “resistance” to all things Trump, real or imagined, they have lost the narrative.
The Leftist should have chosen another holiday. They could have picked Succoth whose roofless, fragile huts serve as reminders of the Jews’ wanderings in the Wilderness.
Stealing Tisha B’Av is like a stranger crashing a shiva.
