The massacre of Jews in Bondi Beach

As we mourn the Jews massacred in Australia, let us remember what this is all about. The conflict is not about Gaza, nor about the West Bank. It is a centuries-old conflict between the Islamic world and the Jews.

The conflict in a nutshell

From Mecca, in the Arab peninsula, and from the 7th century and on, Arabs began a conquest and colonization of vast territories, capturing the whole Middle East and North Africa. The Jews refused to be colonized. Hence, they were reduced to the status of “dhimmis” in the Arab world, a category of people dispossessed of basic human rights.

At the beginning of the 20th century many subjugated people in Europe, Asia and Africa claimed their right to self-determination. The Jews, persecuted in Europe by the Christians, and persecuted in Northern Africa and the Middle East by the Muslims, claimed their right to self-determination in their ancestral land. This is Zionism.

Today, around 3,500,000 Jews living in Israel are refugees, or descendants of refugees, from the Arab countries.

The Arab colonizers do not recognize the right of the Jews to self-determination. As President Joe Biden said in May 2021: “Let us get something straight here. Until the region says unequivocally that they acknowledge the right of Israel to exist as an independent Jewish state, there will be no peace”.
