The Wealthy Allow for Democracy on Condition

For the supremacist rich and powerful, democracy was but a compromise. To let votes of workers and women count equally was ridiculous. But the elites agreed because saying it’s the will of the people’s majority prevents an uprising by the masses demanding their money back.

Of course, part of this masquerade had to be that the exorbitant rich kept much of their social power though largely out of sight. So, well-sponsored politicians had to make sure they won elections by talking about public interests while secretly only having an eye for the interest on the capital of the wealthy. Democracy was OK as long as there was no real equality.

Different from in Britain, US workers don’t even know they are a class. Part of the blue-collar workers get white collars, are called the middle class, must shut up, and work like crazy to get and keep this advantage, but basically, they’re still powerless working-class. Below the blue-collar class is the under-class. They may be homeless, rot in jail or mental institutions, and are meant to scare the blue-collar workers into obedience. And below them are the dead. Those who lacked health insurance or were executed. The owning class work together to keep and grow the money they fleeced from the real workers, but they’re not each other’s friends. When they see a chance, they gobble up the money from their colleagues just as easily.

Every time real equality tends to win, tricks are employed to make sure it won’t happen. That’s how ‘democracy’ stays doable for the loaded.

Examples Abound

A prime example is a NY millionaire who became popular speaking about the rights of the forgotten man while having the money streams go to the rich as never before. He clowns around on all kinds of hot-button topics but is always serious about the rich. The myth of from rags to riches needs to silence the vast majority of workers who’ll never be financially secure.

Schools aren’t really to educate. They are meant to condition the workers, give them some mental tools to do their jobs, and free up parents to work long shifts. They’re not only convinced by teachers they’re stupid but will also tell their children they are too. The rich are so over-represented among the university population it’s ridiculous, but few notice or protest.

When I was still watching TV as a new immigrant in Israel, I noticed that every evening, a couple of arrogant professors came to tell us only they had brains and that if we wanted to be smart we should listen to them.

Even in countries with healthcare for all, the rich get better healthcare. Physicians get paid high salaries to prevent them from revolting.

The ‘Free’ Press

Books for centuries succeeded to intimidate most not to believe their own brains and integrity. Only if you were rich you could publish. Newspapers ran letters to the editor, but only those pushing the interests of the haves with a sporadic token letter protesting the organized ongoing money grab.

Then came the Internet. Almost everyone could get their point of view published. Yet, among so many opinions, everyone’s voice drowned out. So again, you had to pay big money to come up in Google searches.

Even left-wing media fail to report on the workers. They are filled with arguments about feminism and LGBTQ+, racism, Antisemitism, and child abuse, which is all great reporting, but this obscures that most women LGBTQs, non-Whites, Jews, and children are blue-collar-working class.

Another staggering example of mass theft by the few: Israel found gas, enough to supply the whole of Europe through the winter. But the average Israeli is as financially insecure as before. Where does all that money go?

Artificially ‘Intelligent’ ‘News’

Democracy, the plight for equality, needs a free press. This is to plead for the powerless and restrain bribery and the powerful. So, what can the rich do? Flood the market with AI ‘news’ reports. Keep the readers busy with dull computer-generated lists of relevant points to obscure the essence.

Artificially ‘Intelligent’ ‘news’ reports are encyclopedic. Think Wikipedia but then not up-to-date. The tone will be calm and reasonable, think the way the middle class is conditioned. By pumping in background information en mass, the proportion of news diminishes. That’s how to castrate the news.

The issue is not that journalists might lose their jobs. Since when do we regret that dishwashers can use a dishwasher? The issue is that the critical mind is so sidelined, and the wealthy’s powers will be safe (and grow).

(Luckily, Israelis are not so naïve that they believe the media’s news.)

Not that the wealthy are so happy. They’re depressed and lonely. But greed is like an addiction. They can’t help themselves. With all their privilege, comfort chasing, and wasting, they too are victims of the system.
