The real threat to Israel and free Syria is now the Muslim Brotherhood

As Bashar al-Assad’s regime quickly fell under the offensive of the “rebels”, Syria now has a new interim Prime Minister to oversee the transition to a new government that could end up in the Islamists’ pockets. The jihadist leader Mohammad al-Julani, commander of Hayyat Tahrir-al Sham, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda, has appointed Mohammad al-Bashir for the role.

Despite all the calls and promises for “tolerance” and the safeguard of the minorities, there is nothing good that can be expected. As explained by Noor Dahri, the director of the Uk-based think tank Islamic Theology of Counter-Terrorism, “Al Bashir served as the director of “Sharia teaching” programs under the jihadi regime in Idlib for two years and a half. He is a student and admirer of Hassan Banna Egyptian founder of the Muslim Brotherhood and of Sayed Qutb the historic ideologue of Takfiri Jihadism, author of the ultimate Jihadi book “Milestone.”

With this appointment, the Jihadi nature of the regime being set up now is clear. There is no “transformation” of the STF, the only transformation we can see is about the “transition,” to grab power. This is Jihadist Taqiya at its best. Yes, they are “rebels” but rebels against democracy, secularism and human rights.

It is also important to recall that the Sunni cleric Sheikh Osama El-Rifai, who has often been referred to by the media as “the Syrian opposition’s Grand Mufti”, is linked to the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood; he moved to Turkey in June 2012, and started working with Erdogan’s government, both in Turkey and in territories under the control of Turkish armed forces in the north of Syria in promoting narrative in line with the political Islamist discourse of the AKP.

The clumsy attempt to legitimize jihadists and Islamic extremists linked to the Muslim Brotherhood had already been attempted during the so-called “Arab Spring” of 2011 and the results were disastrous in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. There can be nothing democratic or tolerant in these groups because their ideology is the polar opposite.

Moreover, after the first thanks by the Islamists to Israel for having helped to overthrow Assad by giving a resounding defeat to Hezbollah, threats against the Jewish state unavoidably began and it is certainly no coincidence that the IDF immediately moved by entering Syrian territory.

Qatar, another main supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamists in Syria, immediately condemned Israel’s seizure of the buffer zone and sites on Syrian soil, indicating the actions as “a dangerous development”.

As to Turkey, the risk that Erdogan uses the galaxy of jihadist groups to try to consolidate his influence in Syria, in a sort of personal neo-Ottoman delirium and then establish himself as the new paladin of the Palestinian cause is a concrete risk. Let’s not forget that Erdogan has been candidly supporting Hamas since October 7th, hosting several of its leaders on Turkish soil, defining the Palestinian terrorists as “freedom fighters”, as “a liberation group”, and “mujahideen waging a battle to protect its lands and people”. Erdogan also compared Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu, to Adolf Hitler. Hamas is after all the Palestinian expression of the Muslim Brotherhood.

It must also be recalled that during the first Syrian civil war, Turkey supported Qaedist and ISIS jihadists and treated them in Turkish hospitals.

The possibility that the Muslim Brotherhood could attempt to take power and establish a new sanctuary for Sunni terrorism in Syria, backed by Turkey and Qatar, is real. Erdogan could eventually open an anti-Israel front from Syria using jihadists and Turk militias.

Therefore, any attempt by the Muslim Brotherhood to seize power in Syria by presenting itself as “moderate” and incorporating terrorists and jihadists must be nipped in the bud. Morsy’s precedent in Egypt should be clear to everyone by now.
