The shekel stops here

Harry Truman put the sign “The Buck Stops Here” on his White House desk. The sign meant that ultimate responsibility for his administration’s actions rested with him. Politicians will always accept praise for successful actions and policies.  he taking of responsibility is also required when events go wrong.

The October 7th Gaza debacle has the “shekel” resting firmly with Netanyahu. He has been Prime Minister for well over half the time since he first became Prime Minister in 1996 and had a twelve-year run from 2009 to 2021. His explicit policy has been to weaken the Palestinian Authority so a two-state solution would be impossible (despite his occasional protestations of being in favor of such a solution). The best way Netanyahu planned to weaken the Palestinian Authority was to boost Hamas.  He agreed with Qatar to send billions of dollars to Hamas in the past decade.

So-called “Mr. Security” has been proven to be “Mr. Insecurity.” Military and intelligence leaders have acknowledged their failure and taken responsibility for this epic disaster.  Netanyahu has not.

The shekel stops at Netanyahu. He must resign.
