The storm before the calm

As disturbing winds seem to blow from many different directions, as antisemitism and hate from Woke and from the far-right is stirring, as Israel still confronts enemies on seven fronts, and Bibi is about to meet Trump to discuss what to do about it all, as the war between Russia and Ukraine keeps on going, rattling Europe and making the world nervous, as we see polarization between left-wing and right-wing and between East and West, we wonder what’s going to happen.

So here are a few words of encouragement. Relax. Think good and it will be good. The past two years have shown amazing miraculous Divine intervention protecting Israel and indeed benefitting the entire world.

We are on the threshold of calm. The storms and unsettled winds of conflict between people can be viewed as a healthy kind of rising-to-the-surface of biases and prejudices and ignorance that until now festered within much of the human psyche. By rising to the surface, people can deal with it. People are thinking about things, sorting out the different aspects of issues, trying to ascertain responsible and moral convictions.

When a patient comes to a therapist, the road to recovery is when they are able to discuss latent issues, analyze them, confront them for what they are, and reach appropriate solutions.

The current debate among humanity about so many issues, including antisemitism and radical Islam, has the potential to enable people to come to the right decisions.

So forget the fear about all this unrest. Don’t worry about it. What we are seeing is serious self-reckoning among so many people, as they work with their thoughts and emotions,  and listen to the voices of others, in order to reach calm and proper conclusions.

Israel is now acting as a light to the nations. When there is a vacuum, when people begin to realize that the solutions and viewpoints that they’ve always held are now worth re-examining, when this vacuum exists, then we become open to what Israel and the Jewish people have to offer, namely the voice of the Almighty.

At Mount Sinai G-d told Moses to tell all the nations the seven Noahide laws. This will bring peace to the world.

Jews are examining their own relationship to the revelation at Mount Sinai, when the Torah was given to the Jewish people, and when the Jewish people entered a covenant with G-d to serve Him and to be a light to the nations.

It’s the storm before the calm that we are now seeing. It’s the time of reflection, as people of all tongues and all nations take a good look at the world around them and at that their own thoughts and feelings.

It’s a time when all people will come to realize that by showing allegiance to the Almighty and His laws, that this is true morality, which will bring peace, stability and Redemption to the world.

As the Torah says, “And all nations of the Earth will see that the name of G-d is called upon you, and they will be in awe of you.” (Deuteronomy 28; 10)

The light of the Jewish people is illuminating the world. The future looks bright.
