The Takeover of America
It is not unusual to hear those in the Democratic Party refer to Donald Trump as a dictator in waiting. They forget that the great democrat who gave us seemingly endless socialism, Franklin Roosevelt, was a dictator who was elected to president three times and would have been elected forever, had he lived.
More importantly, we hear very little about the common “Summer of Resistance.” This will be an attempt to disrupt the Democratic Convention in Chicago to be held between August 19th and August 22nd, in a manner far in excess of the 1968 Chicago Riots which besmirched the Democratic Convention in that year.
The hard left, communist, and pro-terror groups that plan to disrupt the Democratic National Convention seem to have little opposition. The Democratic Party is afraid to take on those who seek to destroy and overthrow of the United States, let alone label them as demagogues or dictators.
One of these organizations titles itself Behind Enemy Lines. They call themselves an “anti-imperialist organization” which, translated, means hate America.
Some of these groups describe themselves as being anti-Israel. Don’t be fooled. They are also anti-American. The Jews, and this I am proud of, have been conflated with American patriotism. Finally, the enemies of the American Republic realize that the Jewish community stands fully and strongly behind America.
The Mayor of Chicago and the anemic police department there, seem to have no plan to stand up for our nation and may even support what the press calls “protests.”
The planners of the Chicago rebellion, which will be much worse than January 6th in Washington, DC, state directly that they have no intent to be peaceful. They specifically preach violence against the police. They are telling “students and youth” to be “bold and audacious.” They are demanding that their followers “take the frontlines” and “take police beatings and arrests….”
Other organizations that seek the overthrow of America and murder of the Jewish people both here and abroad, are Black Lives Matter Chicago, Students for Justice in Palestine, Students for a Democratic Society, and a coalition of other misnamed groups.
The pro-terrorist groups that plan to disrupt the Democratic Convention in Chicago are not shy about their intent to provoke the police, monopolize media coverage, and to do what they can to undermine America’s relationships with democratic allies.
One must ask why these demonic anti-democratic groups would specifically attack what is already a left leaning Democratic Party? One reason is to try to force the democrats even further left. However, investigation into these groups show that their purpose is much more pernicious. They oppose the fundamental values of America. They do not seek justice and equality for everyone, but rather special privileges for themselves and the issues which they deem important.
What can Americans, who love our country and may even be on the left or right wing of our political parties, do about the planned violence in Chicago during the Democratic Convention? Perhaps the number one response would be for all Americans, regardless of their political affiliation, to stop the trash talk. It is time to stop describing one another as “dictators” or “senile” tools of some insidious conspiracy. We have every right, as Americans, not to like political candidates, especially if they belong to the “other” party. We have a right to work for our chosen leaders and we may even have a responsibility to do so. However, what Americans have forgotten is where to draw the line when it comes to political differences. Hatred, lies, and the use of media to degrade and defame others will not build up our own political capital.
Those who plan to disrupt the Democratic Convention in August are the very posterchild for what America should not be like. How are we going to react to that? Are both left and right going to stand up and condemn groups which preach hatred, seek the destruction of the State of Israel, and demonize the Jewish people? Are we going to permit 1930-style pogroms to take place against groups or people because of their religion? We have been apathetic/lackluster at addressing hostile university environments, which have become a cesspool for hatred and intolerance.
The Democratic Convention could be an opportunity for all of us, Republican, Democratic, Libertarian, and you name it, to come together and support our nation and its democratic principles. Whether we like the candidate that our party chooses and whether we have any respect for the candidate the other party chooses is largely irrelevant. What does matter is how we treat one another and whether we are willing to tolerate the most virulent form of hatred that the world has ever known, antisemitism.
I had a recent debate with a friend of mine as to whether people living today really understand that the Holocaust which occurred in Europe in the 1940s is not over. It is an ongoing attempt to decimate and destroy the face of democracy, whether in the name of anti-Israel policies or simple hatred of the Jewish people.
The Chicago of 2024 is not the Chicago of 1968. The United States is not sending its boys 10,000 miles away to fight in an Asian war. Israel and its allies, however, are fighting a war of survival where 9 million Jews, Christians, Muslims, and others are striving to survive in a neighborhood of well over 500 million hostile attackers.
If the 2024 Chicago Democratic Convention is to stand for anything, it must be about repelling in America those who would destroy our free institutions and American attributes of fairness.
