The UN General Assembly… “A House of Lies”
We witnessed Wednesday the voting in the General Assembly of the United Nations, a place which our Prime Minister has rightly called “a house of lies”.
128 member nations voted NO recognition of President Trump’s position on Jerusalem. Only 9 member nations, mainly small Pacific countries, voted YES in support of it. 35 nations abstained from voting and 21 member states were no-shows.
The voting went according to what Bibi Netanyahu had predicted. The vitriol and the lies were rampant. The vote was not only against America’s recognition of Jerusalem as the rightful capital of Israel, but rather an expression of anti-Semitic fervor in the disguise of anti-Israelism.
Of course, votes in the General Assembly are not binding and Trump’s positive declaration and intent to move the American embassy to Jerusalem remains in force.
Israel may have lost the vote but it won its determination to keep Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish State of Israel. The noun “Jewish” must be added to our official name just as there is the “Islamic” Republic of Iran and “Islamic” nations in Asia.
The world knows well but chooses to ignore our historic ties to Jerusalem, Zion, City of David, site of King Solomon’s Holy Temple and the rebuilt Temple of King Herod. 3,500 years of Jewish history.
In centuries of pagans and idol-worshippers, the Jews were the first people to proclaim the one-ness of God more than 4,000 years ago. Centuries…many, many centuries…later, two other religions based their monotheism upon Jewish theology and law. Christianity first and 1,000 years after, the faith of Islam.
Muslims, according to Mohammed’s declaration, called the Jews “ikhla al kitab”… the people of the Book. And the prophet wrote in his Quran that God (Allah) had promised Israel to the Jews.,
While Jerusalem may be holy to all three monotheistic religions, it is the primary holiness only of the Jews. Christians have Rome. Muslims have Mecca and Medina. Jerusalem belonged, belongs, and will forever belong to the Jewish nation state and people.
Because it has proven impossible for Jews and Palestinians to live side-by-side amicably, the latter’s thorn in the side to Israel must be “surgically” removed.
After World War II, the ethnic German population in Poland was transferred en mass to Germany. German Breslau became once again Polish Wroclaw. The transferred Germans may have been uncomfortable about being forced to move to the Vaterland, but they were not strangers to German language, culture or religion.
If we could transfer our Arab population from Jerusalem and move them into the West Bank or even to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (the real Palestine since the 1922 partition by Great Britain), problems would be minor. Same people. Same language. Same culture. Same history. Same religion. Same foods. They would not be strangers among the majority of Palestinians living outside of Jerusalem.
If the transfer of ethnic Germans from Poland in 1945 was recognized by the European nations, there can be no moral reason for objecting to the transfer of Jerusalem Palestinians. Those who hold Israeli citizenship should be permitted to remain.
But any people who do not respect the flag and the anthem of the country in which they live should have their citizenship and benefits derived from it revoked.
Move over, Abbas. Your flocks will soon be coming to you in their multitudes. Insh’ Allah.
