The US and its strange strategy of de-escalation

I’ve just read that the US believes Israel is planning ‘narrow and limited strike’ inside Iran. US Officials, of course, aren’t happy with Israel’s decision. Israel, it seems, might not even inform the American side about the details of the Israeli retaliatory strike, knowing that Americans are just going to shake their heads and do some finger-wagging.

Given what the US has been doing in Ukraine, it’s indeed strange what’s going on. Are American officials playing the old cloak-and-dagger games by pretending to be against any kind of escalation while encouraging escalation behind the scenes? Or is America really so steeped in isolationism, imbecility and chaos that no one really knows what’s going on anymore? I’ve just read there are prominent (God have mercy, this is how far the American society has fallen) American politicians who actually believe supporting Ukraine equals to supporting Nazis. I only hope that US intelligence agencies are smarter than that. Please, God, don’t tell me they are also poisoned by stupidity and rampant political correctness making it impossible to express one’s thoughts properly.

As we say in Polish, ”Czy leci z nami pilot?” (Is the pilot flying with us?) Maybe it’s all about the money and there’s no chaos at all, maybe it’s all just made to look this way cause someone’s getting big bucks when people panic. There’s a Polish saying which loosely translates as, ”When you don’t know why someone does what he or she does, the answer is money.” But it just seems too simple, don’t you think? Is there some hidden Russia worship going on in the American corridors of power? After all, Russian propagandists are skilled brainwashers. I was joking about Russian propagandists visiting the White House but I’m not laughing anymore because that could very well happen.

Israel must respond.  The US can huff and puff all its wants. With its current track record, sadly, the US isn’t exactly reliable and it’s great that Israel is going to do what it wants to do rather than listening to what appears to be a country where inmates are increasingly running the asylum. Isn’t it tragically ironic? A nation founded by intellectuals is devolving into idiocracy.

You know the reasons much better than me, a Pole thousands of miles away. My reasoning is simple: if Israel doesn’t respond, it’s going to be a sign of weakness, embolding Iran and encouraging more escalation. If Israel responds with a surgical strike and Iran wants escalation (they are obsessed with the end-times and martyrdom, are they not?), then the escalation is going to happen, ending who knows where. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

But I can’t imagine Israel bowing to the American pressure not to do anything because then it’s all just going to de-escalate and all will be well. Really? If there’s an American witch with a magic wand, she can turn terrorists into cheerleaders. Then, all really will be well.

You see, as a Pole, I know the other face of Iran. I know Iran that helped around 120,000 Polish refugees during the Second World War. But that was a different Iran, not this theocratic regime. But, even today, I believe that Iranians don’t see Poland as their enemy and some kind of communication is maintained.

I want to show this isn’t some Iran-bashing piece. Iran is an ancient civilization and I’ve always admired its rich cultural heritage and what Iran did for Poland during the Second World War.

I hope to see the other face of Iran, the one before the fanatics took over. The face of Iran that is remembered in Poland to this day.
