The West’s Self-Destructive Alliance

By supporting the wrong side in the Israel-Hamas war, Western democracies are not just betraying their ally, they are undermining their own future. In the name of diplomacy and “balance,” European governments are rewarding terrorism, legitimizing extremism, and eroding the very values they claim to uphold.

On October 7th, Hamas launched a barbaric massacre in southern Israel, murdering families, raping women, and abducting children. It was the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust. Hamas didn’t apologize. On the contrary, it promised to repeat it “again and again.”

Yet, months later, the world is barely talking about the hostages still held in Hamas tunnels. Instead, the conversation in European capitals is about recognizing a Palestinian state, even as Hamas remains entrenched, proud, and unrepentant.

Recognition for Terror

This week, UK Labour leader Keir Starmer announced that his government would recognize a Palestinian state by September, unless Israel agrees to a ceasefire. A ceasefire, with whom? A genocidal terror regime that openly rejects coexistence and celebrates slaughter?

Jewish organizations in Britain quickly condemned the proposal. The Board of Deputies of British Jews called it a dangerous move that could “embolden extremists” and reward Hamas’s crimes. Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) was even more direct: “Mass murder, rape and hostage-taking should not be a path to diplomatic gain.”

Even Progressive Judaism, supportive of a two-state solution, warned that statehood should never be a reward for violence.

Dutch Policy: Condemning the Victim

Meanwhile, the Netherlands has announced travel bans against two Israeli ministers, threatened arms embargoes on Israel, and increased funding to aid organizations operating in Gaza. Their reasoning? Israel’s actions in Gaza are “unbearable and indefensible.”

But who started this war? Who hides behind civilians? Who still refuses a ceasefire unless Israel agrees to suicide by surrender?

While Dutch leaders summon the Israeli ambassador and issue sanctions, they barely mention the remaining Israeli hostages. They barely acknowledge that Hamas, not Israel, brought this war upon Gaza.

And yet, millions of euros in Dutch aid are flowing to Hamas-controlled areas, under the pretext of “humanitarian relief,” without real guarantees or accountability.

Europe’s Dangerous Delusion

There is no moral symmetry here. There is no “cycle of violence.” There is one side defending its citizens, and another side sacrificing its own people for propaganda.

By pressuring Israel and appeasing Hamas, Western leaders are sending a message that terror pays. And it will not stop in Sderot or Tel Aviv.

The same radical Islamist ideology that drives Hamas has long taken root in parts of Europe. By empowering these forces abroad, Europe strengthens them at home. The result? More extremism, more antisemitism, more danger for their own citizens.

A Final Betrayal of Western Values

Israel is on the frontlines of the battle for democracy, liberty, and truth in a region dominated by tyranny and terror. To isolate Israel is to weaken the very foundation of the West.

The West is not simply turning its back on Israel. It is turning its back on itself.

In rewarding terror, they are abandoning justice.

In abandoning Israel, they are abandoning the only reliable partner for peace and security in the Middle East.

And in doing so, they are paving the way for their own decline.

This is not diplomacy. It is denial. And denial, historically, comes at a cost.

About the Author
CEO of Time to Stand Up for Israel, a nonprofit organization with a powerful mission: to support Israel and amplify its voice around the world. With over 200,000 followers across various social media platforms, our community is united by a shared love for Israel and a deep commitment to her future. My journey as an advocate for Israel began early. When I was 11 years old, my father was deployed to the Middle East through his work with UNTSO. I had the unique experience of living in both Syria and Israel, and from a young age, I witnessed firsthand the contrast in cultures and realities. That experience shaped me profoundly. Returning to the Netherlands, I quickly became aware of the growing wave of anti-Israel sentiment — and I knew I had to speak out. Ever since, I’ve been a fierce and unapologetic supporter of Israel. I’m not religious, but my belief is clear and unwavering: Israel has the right to exist, and Israel has the duty to defend herself. My passion is rooted in truth, love, and justice. I’m a true Zionist at heart. From my first breath to my last, I will stand up for Israel.
