The woke west or how have we come to this?

In May 1945, General de Gaulle declared that Nazi Germany was defeated and the Allies had achieved “total victory.” Much of Germany was in ruins. Civilian deaths were huge. Many villages and towns in France suffered huge damage as a result of the Allied invasion. But no one thought to reach a ceasefire with Germany. No one stopped the war due to the civilian deaths, awful though they were. Back then, minds were focused on defeating the enemy, and nothing would stop them until that aim was achieved. Tokyo was firebombed and then we had Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Only then did Japan capitulate. Total victory was indeed achieved. Moreover, the canard that you “can’t defeat an ideology” was proven false because, although of course there are Neo Nazis everywhere, they aren’t great in number and they don’t run a country. Japan and Germany have turned out to be allies of democracy.

In more recent times, there was a genocide in Rwanda where the Hutus massacred close to 1 million Tutsis in 3 months, an ongoing battle in Sudan where millions have died of starvation and the war shows no signs of ending, and Yemen where starvation is rife. In Syria, Assad murdered millions of his own people but no one in the West was out demonstrating and divesting and denouncing. China locks up the Uighurs in “re-education” camps and Myanmar detains and murders the Rohingya.

The woke brainless aren’t out marching across the Sydney Harbour Bridge for any of these. They aren’t burning churches or mosques or temples in protest. Schools and businesses aren’t being defaced. There aren’t ongoing rallies disrupting people’s weekends and lives. In short, the only group that gets the demonstrators and the ralliers and the rest of them is guess who? Yes, the Israelis and the Zios (shorthand for Jews).

The one Jewish state, which has about 9 million, and the other 7 million Jews worldwide are chosen for denigration and abuse more than any other ethnic or religious group in the world.  Can it be that Israel and Zios really are the epitome of all evil in the world? Can it be that everything they say is subject to disbelief and “needs to be verified,” whereas what Hamas says is immediately accepted as if carved in stone and carried down from the mountain by a man in a beard? Can it be that every accusation levelled against Israel is true, whereas those against Hamas are “not able to be verified”?  Can it be that raping, marauding, barbaric terrorism is now rewarded, whereas democratically elected governments are dismissed as not being trustworthy or moral?

Sadly yes. More than sadly. Regrettably, horribly, incredibly.

Can it be that our government, the Australian one, together with Macron of France ( more on him later), Carney of Canada and Starmer of the UK are so blinded by their reliance on Muslim votes that they actually accept that the corrupt Jew hating Palestinian Authority will somehow suddenly reform itself and revoke its pay for slay program (recently rebranded under a new name) and rewrite its education syllabus so that the entrenched anti- semitism and incitement against Jews is removed? Seriously? Albo has said he spoke with Abbas (the same one whose doctoral thesis was on Holocaust denial) and that he is sure that he (Abbas) is up to the job. I’d like to know what medical delusion pills Albo is taking because we would all like some. We’d see the world in a much brighter way.  How is the PA going to run Gaza whilst Hamas is still there and who is supported by the overwhelming majority of those in the West Bank (although not in Gaza)? Does Albo not know that Hamas defeated  Fatah and murdered them back in 2007? Does he not know that Abbas is in the 20th year of his 4-year term? Albo can’t even say which sea, sorry Albo, ocean as you termed it, is used in the annihilation of Israel phrase “from the river to the …” yes it is sea, not ocean. Albo’s undergraduate dream of Palestinian statehood is still alive and kicking.

And Hamas is delighted that its pogrom of October 7 and ongoing barbarous retention of hostages is being rewarded by the West. Macron, who seems to be emulating Petain but can’t manage to sort out New Caledonia, preaches to Israel. He has now revoked visas for El Al security staff, and a travel advisory tells us that France is on high alert for a terrorist incident, as is Spain, which seemingly thinks we are still in 1492 and it can evict Jews whenever it likes. Here’s a news bulletin- they can’t. Perhaps they should grant independence to the Basques and Catalans first, each of which has far greater claims to independence than the Palestinians.

The false claims of famine and mass starvation have been swallowed up whole by the West who again accept without challenge everything Hamas spews out. That is not to say there are not areas within Gaza where there is food insecurity, but not famine — as opposed to Sudan or Yemen where there is true famine.

The ones who are being deliberately starved are the hostages- remember them anyone? Seemingly forgotten by the hapless West and clueless useful idiots, they are languishing in the tunnels, starved and abused, physically and emotionally.

If you had any doubts, just read the report of the Israeli Ministry of Health that was released last night about the state of some of the released hostages. It is more than chilling reading; it is a reminder not only of the barbarity of Hamas but also of the moral hole into which the West has fallen. During their captivity, they were starved and sometimes went days without food. They were allowed access to showers perhaps once every 6 months. They had no change of clothes and wore the same underwear even for months at a time. They suffer from scurvy, acne, vitamin C and D deficiency, are at increased risk of osteoporosis, had no access to sanitation and were forced to defecate in front of the other hostages. There was no medical treatment and were occasionally given incorrect medication which created other medical issues.  There was no provision for women’s hygiene. Occasionally they were moved and were forced to walk long distances underground.

In short, it is horrific. And this is ongoing. And instead of exerting every pressure available on Hamas and Qatar, which houses them, the pressure has been placed on Israel. By so doing, Hamas has no need or incentive to negotiate. It has its reward. We believe there are around 20 live hostages (although, having seen the recent proof of life videos, I think surviving is a better word) at present.  If, due to the pressure of the West on Israel, Hamas murders more of them, then those deaths are directly attributable to the West for their weakness and idiocy and capitulation to terror.

There is seemingly no place for compassion for Jews and Israelis but every drop of it is reserved for Palestinians and Hamas. Open displays of support for Hamas and Islamic Jihad are commonplace now, and no one takes action to stop that. The normalisation of Jew hatred is complete.

Not quite two weeks ago, we read the book of “Eichah”, or Lamentations, at the synagogue on Tisha b’av, the saddest day of the Jewish calendar, which commemorates various disasters, including the destruction of both temples, the expulsion from Spain, and the destruction of the Warsaw ghetto. On that day, the Sydney Harbour Bridge march took place. The day Australia died, some have termed it.  Eichah., how did it come to this? It came to this due to weak leadership that panders to the crowd and has abandoned any sense of morality, justice and loyalty to an ally.

In its place stands a country and a world I no longer recognise. I am named after my aunt, a PHD, who was murdered in the Holocaust. I have tried all my life to be true to her memory and to that of my grandparents, also murdered in the Holocaust. My father came to this country in 1965, after having obtained a visa to New Zealand in 1941 via Japan.  He would not recognise either country. Back then, he was shocked to see on boarding houses “no Catholics” after having fled “no Jews” in Catholic Poland. Perhaps he wouldn’t be shocked to see what has happened to New Zealand and to Australia. Perhaps he would have known what we are just discovering — that Jew hatred never dies, that it hibernates and then when it is ready it emerges and starts to mutate and propagate again and again. We post-Holocaust children have lived in a golden era that has now ended. The era of the exception. But now the normal has returned.
