The world seems stuck, but there is momentum in the right direction

(Thoughts on Sukot)

Ukraine and Russia. The war just keeps on going.

US and Iran. It seems like a stalemate.

Israeli elections. Polls show a tie.

Israel’s high court and the coalition government. China and Taiwan. Greece and Turkey. US and Canada. Confrontations and divisions, with no clear winner in sight.

The world seems so divided. US Republicans and Democrats. Left wing and right wing. Far right parties and far left parties.

It all seems like one big stalemate. A quagmire with seemingly no end in sight.

But wait. Things are happening. Differences are being resolved. Threatening forces are being defeated.

One news item from yesterday, is about a conference of leaders of companies at the forefront of developing AI, signing an agreement to run things in a responsible and safe way.

And AI is geared to help humanity tremendously, wondrously, including in vistas of medicine, technology, and knowledge.

Regarding threats to the Middle East, and indeed the world, Israel has pushed back its enemies, and stands on land in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria in order to maintain security.

Iran’s nuclear facilities were bombed, and the US and Israel stand poised to stop Iran from trying again to obtain such weapons.

Antisemitism on colleges in the US was clamped down on. Even governments that condemn and criticize Israel, condemn antisemitism when it shows up; and police fight against antisemitic violence.

So things are looking up. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s getting there.

And very soon, we look forward to Redemption with Moshiach, when all differences and quagmires will be resolved.

Redemption seems so close. May it happen now.
