Thus To Be A Light Unto The Nations
In Memory of our dear Father, Sigmond Shore, who passed away, on this very day, so very young in 1967, on the 24th of Elul and in Memory of our maternal grandmother, Lusia (née Goldman) Herzig, who passed away twenty- three hours later on the 25th of Elul. Both had nobility of soul and aristocracy of character, in thoughts, few words, and so many good deeds. They lived by that which I have written herein.

Recognizing the promise of the Divine,
We must be worthy of Israel;
Israel must be Israel to be Israel.
The Lord’s Covenant of ethics and morality
Is not a slogan by which to flaunt
What has been given to us to Co-partner:
The responsibility to ourselves and to others,
Thus, to be a light unto the nations.
The crying of a mother is heard on high;
Rachel cannot be consoled for the suffering
Of her children; The Divine does respond
“There is hope for the future; the children
Shall return,” true to the Covenant itself,
With everlasting love, bestowed upon them.
