A Modern-Day Example Of  Faith And Trust In G-d

It is very moving to see how much faith and trust in Hashem that both Elisheva Cohen and her brother Avi have while watching this video at the link above. And I am convinced that no matter what the final outcome, they will continue to have that same faith and trust.

Unit 1110 = 1 (Hashem) Plus (110 = Gematria For Miracle – נס)

This is the Unit number Elisheva mentioned in the video. Its number verifies that G-d does perform miracles. This all must be part of a vast eternal plan that we all have a role to participate in by doing good deeds and following the teachings of the Torah. Elisheva and Avi send that message loud and clear.

Elisheva = Again The First Two Letters In Her Name – EL -Refer To G-d

I previously mentioned that the great Rabbinic scholar The Chazon Ish wrote a book on Faith & Trust in G-d, which has been translated to English. Listening to Elisheva and Avi speak convinces me they have studied this book many times.

Elisheva In The Torah

Elisheva was the wife of Aaron, who was Moses‘ elder brother and the Kohen Gadol. It is very appropriate that Elisheva has the last name Cohen.

Elisheva’s brother was Nachshon. The Midrash relates that during the Exodus, when the Israelites reached the Red Sea, it did not automatically part. The Israelites stood at the banks of the sea and wailed with despair, but Nachshon entered the waters. Once it reached his neck, the waters split.

It is ironic that the building which collapsed is also located on the shores of an ocean. But unlike what took place in the Torah where the Red Sea split, which created a miracle in the sea, we are hoping for miracles to take place on land. And many more miracles to occur in the future.

In the Torah, Elisheva’s brother Nachshon is always talked about as having been the person responsible for starting the great miracle of saving all Jews from their enemies at the Red Sea.

I would not be surprised if the actions by Elisheva, Avi and all those families affected by this tragedy as well as all those who supported them represents the beginning of many miracles that will ultimately bring about the speedy coming of Moshiach.

Now that the Nine Days are upon us, we should use this opportunity to increase our prayers and good deeds for the victims, their families and our fellow human beings.
